Bullitt suspension

So the Bullitt rides a bit lower than the GT. Did Ford design new LCA's and panhard bar to account for the change? How do they adjust for the change in pinion angle?

it's only about 1/4" lower in the rear

New shocks, springs, dampers and stabilizer bar. Don't think Ford did anything with the front end outside of that. Oh yeah, don't forget the strut tower brace too.

Then it would need a shorter panhard bar at the least or else the axle would be shifted off center. <O</O

I'm wondering if stiffening the chassis with subframe connectors would be an improvement.

Good point. It sure was with the 2001's, but perhaps there's a reason its void in the 2008's.

So are these Bullitt specific? Or available from FRPP.

The drop was most likely within the design specs in such a way that a different panhard bar was not needed. I assume this was an engineering expense Ford did not want to incur.

There are 2 "frame rail connectors" on the S197 chassis that essentially perform the same as subframe connectors. Many have questioned how effective a bolt-on connector was with the SN-95 car as compared to something welded in place. However, it was probably better than leaving it be.

I've always theorized that the two piece drive shaft with CV joints on the back half accommodates different ride heights for the factory. But I don't know crap.

My understanding is the S197 chassis doesn't need them (coupe at least).

Perhaps in convertible form it does.

Supposedly Bullitt specific. I think though that the stabiliser bars are the Ford 'upsize' version which are the same as in the FRPP pack.

Some of what is on the Bullitt apparently will make it to FRPP

I found that the 2001 Bullitt was the best handling Mustang I ever drove. It out-braked and out-handled my 2003 Cobra in my opinion, so perhaps the subframe connectors played a role here. Can't comment on the S197, as I haven't taken delivery yet (soon!!).

I experienced the opposite with the '04 Cobra vs the '01 Bullitt which I had at the same time for approximately one year.

Gee, I really don't know. Didn't keep it long enough, but I doubt it did. Perhaps George can comment.

The coupe did not have them but I don't know if the verts had them or not. I would assume they did since my wife's '02 GT vert had them.

I can't find the reference now but I thought sub frame connectors was one of the things SVT added to the '03/'04 Cobra

My memory appears to be failing me so your thoughts are probably correct. Did you find any reference as to the '03/'04 Cobras having IRS or did they have a solid axle?

IRS but you knew that?

I know many ended up changing to solid axle, at least the drag racers.
