That is fine and all and it is America. He can do it if he wants, but really, it is sad to see them do that and kind of kill the sales of these things. Just b/c you can doesn't mean you should...

Yeah exactly.

While I can understand markup on limited production vehicles - I mean, c'mon, it's to be expected, it is a purposely limited production vehicle. Ford probably shouldn't have even made the price public though.

People are happy when they go to buy the car and it's the same price it was advertised for.

They get mad (not disappointed or discouraged, but mad) when the car is advertised for one price and then waste their time going in to a dealership and then being told at the last minute, "no, I'm sorry, the owner just decided he wants to ask 5-10K over sticker, we can't sell it for MSRP".

It makes sense for limited run cars, but as a consumer when that happens it just feels dishonest and like being used.

And I know we have resident dealership guys on here (awesome guys, btw ), so I don't want to offend. Not all dealers are the same. The profit off a new car is very slim, but is that the consumer's fault or Ford's? It just bugs me as you can see. More of them could look at the big picture and realize that I'd trust my car with a delaer that posts honest prices that keeps the consumer in mind. I'd bring it back in there for years if the service is good.

Korey, you are so right that not all dealers are the same. I'm very happy that the dealership I work for listened to me about pricing the Bullitts at MSRP. There are very few cars that an ADM would ever make sense for (i.e. 07/08 Shelby GT500). The Bullitt - as cool as it is - will only have a limited audience, so I don't suspect to see all 7700 of them sold.

Is it true that you can order factory direct from Ford and avoid dealership markup?

No, a person HAS to purchase a car from a dealership. One cannot get a car from the manufacturer themselves. Its all tied to franchise laws.

And I too am with Brian. I highly doubt all 7,000 Bullitts selling out in the USA. And at my store I just took a deposit for one at MSRP only. No markup. We are only getting 2 maybe 3 at the most, so MSRP makes sense on this car. Regular GT's, discounted to $500 over invoice all day long (including GT/CS).
