Autoblog reaction to Bullitt
Depends upon what color you want. If you want a color that is being discontinued, then you're pretty much forced to go with an '07. Unfortunately, Redfire is being discontinued next year, and I believe replaced with some other type of Red that is non-metallic and not as nice, IMHO.
I won't get the HIDs, but it's a lot easier to retrofit the Xenons into an '07 than it is to repaint an '08.

Sorry, I've taken this off topic.

NY in April is the point-of-no-return for me. If they show the Bullitt in NY and it absolutely rocks (power notwithstanding), then I can cancel/change my Redfire order. If they show it and it's ho-hum, then I go ahead and take delivery of my Redfire GT in April. But I'm not waiting past that point.
Bottom line: there will always be a "better" car, and while I love the idea of the Bullitt, overall I still prefer the Redfire to the DHG on the S197s anyway.

Why not get the 07 and retrofit the parts(body)...won't be that much (like doing a GT with GT500 parts)
something I just thought of...What if ford decided not to limit the colors on the bullitt....what if you could get a Redfire Bullitt?....
If they did this....I would lose all respect for Ford Motor Company...but I wouldnt put it past them....they may try to appeal to a larger crowd by offering many color options...much like th GT/CS.

Barbie Pink Bullitt, perhaps...?
It doesn't appeal to me to "mix & match" like that. If I want a Bullitt, I want a Bullitt as is, fully intact the way god and Ford intended it.
On the other hand, if I go with the Redfire GT - which I am - then I am going to maintain its integrity, too, with the exception of a few customized bits here and there.
I did like the "idea" of the Bullitt...and thought it would be supremely cool to own one, but given that it won't offer any substantial performance gains, I'm less interested. I gotta say, too, I DO prefer the Mustang with the foglights in the grille, a la 1969. Lose that and the car overall is missing something, IMHO. Moreover, I am drawn to the Redfire like a bee to honey, especially with the red interior. And the Bullitt interior will simply be black, which I find a bit too austere.
It's all becoming very clear to me now...

I thought that to do that, I would have to utterly deny the existence of the '08 Bullitt altogether.
I guess that makes me a mere charter member of their hallucinatory club.
I kidd - they're a great bunch of folks over there.

If Ford stickers the Bullitt for $35K or more, and it has only FRPP pkgs on it (totalling 315-325HP), and does not have GT heads, 6spd tranny, or beefed up brakes...
...I won't be able to justify getting one...

I'm not so sure its the Ford pricing that we have to worry about, rather, its the markup the dealers will tack on that will drive the price beyond justifyable for the car.
Ford seems to be pretty good a valuing their cars. The GT500 is in the 39,000 range with MSRP pushing it up to the 42 mark. Thats not unreasonable for that car. Its the dealers tacking on their markups that push the price out of the reasonable and into the ... well ... no need to bother the foul finger filter ... lol.
I am expecting/praying/hoping Ford will have the same good sense in pricing this one and the future ones, and will just wait for the dealers to get stuck with extra stock and then jump in for one.
My thoughts
I really want an '08 Bullitt and was committed to a purchase in the mid 30s with minimal power increase(i.e. Shelby GT) and if the only color option is DHG. I for one hope that Ford does not outsource the Bullitt bulild to Shelby Autos-- I've seen a few Shelby GTs in person and the quality of workmanship has been subpar at best
to include poorly applied front grills, side and rear badges.
Power additons notwithstanding, a poorly assembled Bullitt would be a deal killer for me.

All the blurbs I've read indicate that Shelby make take the Bullitt and modify it to build GT350s. I didn't take that to mean Shelby would be doing the Bullitt builds themselves.
Regarding quality: I rented a Hertz at San Francisco a week and a half ago. The rocker stripes were peeling off at the back wheel on both sides. With 14,000 miles on the odometer that is not good.
