? about the bullitt

I have odered a Bullitt and it should be built sometime.. The question that I have is the spare tire...it says that the spare tire is replaced by a tire gauge, does this mean that the bullitt comes with run flats? Just asking....

The Bullitt comes With BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS tires....not run-flat. The kit in the trunk is designed to inflate and seal a punctured tire (assuming it is like the one in my SSR Truck).

Yeah, it's a standard accessory on all SVT vehicles.

I asked my dealer to order me a mini-spare (like in the GT) for my Bullitt. I want the security of having a spare tire.

Thank you everyone for the quick response... I just hope that I don't get a flat tire anywhere...

Well, you will get the Ford Roadside Assistance with your car, and its good for 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Has anyone ever had the need to test FRSA around here?

I wonder how well it works? I'm guessing if you're stuck in Bumblef*ck, Nowheresville, you're sh*t out of luck? Or does Ford just call the local Bob's Big Azz garage to give you a bail?

I know Discount Tire & NTB really frown when they see a flat come in that had "Fix-A-Flat" injected/put inside. That stuff is a mess when you break the tire down. Yuck!

The manufacturers and auto clubs (like AAA) will contract out with independent shops in most areas, not just remote areas. So yeah, you're gonna get Bob's Big Azz out to bail you out. Even in a large metro area. I know from personal experience that BMW's incar emergency SOS service does the same thing and I bet GM's OnStar does too. No clue (yet) about Ford's.

Those places are right to frown on the stuff - I can't imagine trying to get that stuff off of the wheel surface.

But by the same token, they weren't the ones who had to either change the tire on the side of the Suburban Extension Metropolitan Speedway (insert name of your local freeway here), call and wait for an hour or two in an unfamiliar area, or walk a whole bunch of miles in 10 degree weather for help. So frown back at 'em while they sit in their comfy shops sippin' lattes or whatever they drink in there. : )

Besides, it's a heckuva lot better'n freakin' runflats. Yuck!

Well, I'm just south of you and had the need to call Ford's Roadside Assistance last month when my alternator died without warning. Called them (1-800-241-FORD) and gave them the VIN, mileage, my name, etc. so they could verify coverage. A flatbed was to my car within 10 minutes (rather lucky, as they often average about an hour, I'm told). It was an independent tow company that's run locally (but, at least a reputable one I had heard of). Driver was friendly, professional, and didn't even scratch my car. Had my car to the dealership pronto.

Overall, I was really pleased with how well the whole event was handled.

Tire inflation kits instead of a spare are becoming fairly common from many manufacturers.
The new Challenger will have that too.

Yeah, I wish BMW did that with my old Z4 instead of equipping horrid runflats.... brrrrr. The thing tramlined like nobody's business with stock runflats.
