That trap speed tells me that 13.0's would be likely with drag radials! Evan Smith is an awesome drag racer, and that 13.29 run is great for stock tires. Give him another try at the track with drag radials, and he might even crack off a 12.9 in a stock Bullitt!!!

His other runs in the Bullitt were in the 13.40's and 13.50's, so traction really is tough.

Didn't post his 60' times. They mentioned that with 93 octane, that Bullitt dyno'd 288 rwhp on a Dynojet. Assuming a 12% drivetrain loss, that's 327 hp at the motor! For those who calculate a 15% drivetrain loss, that's 339 hp, but with the efficiencies and 3.73 gears, 12% is probably closer to what's happening. Either way, that's stout!

Any tests I've read for Shelby GT's show them in the high 13's, so the Bullitt appears to have a distinct advantage at the dragstrip over the SGT's. Still want to see Evan run that Bullitt again with drag radials!

288rwhp sounds much more like it. Previous article in 5.0 magazine had it at 264.9rwhp (seemed too low) and 13.48 @101.79mph

More like 325-330hp with 93 octane. Low 13's is awesome for a $31K factory Mustang!

Yep. But, the first comparison in another mag seemed to have the car running pretty rich, so it could be very similar hp number with both octane levels if the 87 octane part is leaned out a little. I would like to see octane comparisons to test this new "knock" technology. I'm sure the boost in torque was definitely from the 93 octane. Those are great numbers.

for that mustang yes. i am assuming that mustang bullitt will not be at the low end of the stock hp spectrum....

its great to say all bullitts will be 320hp at 93oct but some will be closer to 330hp on 93oct!

Wow, those are very impressive numbers!! Again, a great valued car. Ford has always been low-balling their power numbers, but I am still surprised about the dyno numbers. Especially strange was the difference between 5.0 mag's 265RWHP and this one at 288RWHP. What could bring about this rather large change? That's almost a 10% increase in RWHP, one over the other. I would be most interested to know. Anyhow, great test!

i really dont think ford is lowballing numbers.

on 87oct ford is stating most if not all bullitts will be at least 315hp or above 270rwhp.
on 93 oct ford stated small hp increase and a 5 spot bump in torque throughout the range.

being its very naturall for the same engine/car to very by 10 to in some cases 20 rwhp i very easily see a bullitt hitting up to 290rwhp on 93oct.

Of the 20 cars I have figures for, stock manual Mustang GTs average about 270rwhp on dynojets. they ranged from 262-283rwhp.

Also have 6 stock dyno runs for manual Shelby GTs. They ranged from 275-285rwhp. The FFPP tune that comes with the SGTs is tuned for 91 octane.

Well, nonetheless, those numbers are still quite impressive. With a little tweaking, it would stay close to a GT500 on the track. Just shows you what a balanced car is capable of!

I would venture to say that in most cases the Bullitt would beat the GT500 in the 1/4 due to the massive amounts of wheel spin with the GT500. A novice driver would spin through 1-2-3.

Same driver that ran the Bullitt's 13.29 @ 105+ for MM&FF (Evan Smith) also ran a bone stock GT500 last year. He turned a 12.25 @ 116+. Same driver at the same track (Englishtown?), and about a 1 second advantage to the GT500. However, a novice in a GT500 better leave the traction control on, or it'll be nothing but tirespin like VAiN said.

What was the air temp. at the track they ran at?
Really cold air can boost the HP 5% easy with a CAI.

Its better than I thought it would be. Those 3.73's have to help a little. Im impressed to be honest. What do the SGT's run and has one been tested by MMFF?

I've read somewhere that the stiffer lowered springs on the SGT hurt it's 1/4 mile times

SGT (manual) 1/4 mile time/speed
dragtimes.com: 13.61@104.11
motorttrend: 13.6@104.1
Car & Driver: 13.7@104
Edmunds: 13.7@103.9

GT-H (automatic) 1/4 mile time/speed
5.0 mag 13.76@97
Edmunds 13.9@101.1

The February issue of Automobile magazine also has Bullitt article.
