When Will They Build A GT350 ?
I owned a 1967 GT500 for 10 years from 1979 - 1989 I sold it only to buy my house... I currently own a 2003 Mach 1, 1989 LX 5.0 sport model, and a 1969 302 V8 coupe...
I like the idea of Shelby coming out with a new 2007 GT500 but the mark up is in a word "NUTS" and needs to come down to where the average Joe can afford to buy it... I'm hope the Shelby GT does NOT go the same route... I love this car it looks great, but it's missing just one thing to make everyone happy.... The rocker panels should have read GT350.....
Again the Shelby GT looks like a great car ( I love the hood pins, the lowered body, and the SHELBY letter across tht trunk lid).... But I'm going to wait for the GT350 with the 2003/2004 cobra motor a 4.6 supercharged... With (sorry I'm 51 no more shifting for me) a automatic transmission (offered in Shelby GT)....
No one is talking about a GT350 and it would be a shame NOT to offer the sister car to the GT500.... The GT350 came out first in 1965 am I the ONLY ONE out their who see a HUGE VOID in the fact that the GT350 IS NOT being offered.... I went to the New York auto show 2 years ago just to see the new GT500 and I made a point to talk to ALL the Ford reps about Ford offering a GT350... Shame no one listened...
A GT350 with a 4.6 supercharged motor would get ALOT better gas mileage and would be ALOT BETTER balanced car, and would be a heck of ALOT MORE FUN, than the GT500...
Ofcourse this is just my feels on the subject but I would love to know what others feel about the GT350 void if you will...
One last thing I've gone to 3 local dealerships - and all 3 dealership took a order for a possible 2008/2009 Shelby GT350...At all 3 dealerships I was lucky enough to talk to salepersons who knew some background history of Shelbys/ & Mustangs ( with a little tutoring on my part with one saleman) and were willing to take such a order.....

Hey Randy, I can shed some light on this for you. If you head on over to the Shelby GT subforum in the "aftermarket" section, and look for the topics started by AmyB, you may get some info. To give a synopsis, AmyB, is actually Amy Boylan, the President of Shelby America. She came on the boards when the Shelby GT was unveiled, to help answer any questions, and to help turn around the naysayers who didn't like what they saw. One question that was asked to her (which leads us all to believe of a GT350 coming out), was why isn't white with blue stripes, or blue with white stripes offered in the Shelby GT? She said they have better use for those colors and were saving them for future use.
This only leads to specuation that while Ford is committed to 3 years of the GT500, that Shelby may indead convert regular GT's into GT350's at their factory in Las Vegas. If this is indeed the case, I won't expect to see a GT350 until 2008, when they are finished with the Shelby GTs. Hope this helps some.
Randy, too bad your not in my neck of the woods, I can talk Shelbys and Mustang for hours. One of my customers recently held his yearly picnic with alot of his friends from the local SAAC. They invited me to come over. Over 20 real Shelby Mustangs, and 7 of them were his and his wife's!!

Well, I came up with my current stang back in august 05. I felt the overall GT was fine but needed some after market help. Since I only buy red or black cars....and the first pre production GT 500 pics were out, that ruled out the red with white stripes. I have always loved the GT 350H and the car beckoned for a black and gold shelby. Since the GT 500 was coming out, it had the 5.4L supercharged. I kept the theme of the smaller block, I went to work.
Just like CS of old,
I upgraded the intake/fuel....CAI and retune.....he did a new intake manifold/carb.
I upgraded the exhaust to LT headers, x pipe, and mufflers......he added headers, h pipe, mufflers.
Both He & I upgraded the suspension.
He and I added new aftermarket wheels.
I also liked the ducktail spoiler of the 67 and the fog lights of the 67. So I made my own GT 350.
NOW ford mentions: GTCS, Bullitt, GT H (black and gold uggggh), and the Shelby GT.
IF I had known......If I had only known.

Everything Jeff said is a great summary but only one correction is needed. AmyB started lurking before the Shelby GT, she has just been drawn into so many threads now that everyone thinks she just joined.
And just like Jeff said, check out the Shelby GT section and you will find more speculation on the GT350.

Traffic142 - When you put the tribar pony rear deck lid on your car did you replace everything or just the center disk? Was this from Ford or an aftermarket purchase? Finally where did you get your stripes? I'm looking for some rocker panel stripes when my '07 GT vert arrives.
Randy - 61 and after 7 years driving an auto I'm going back to a stick. I also went through a period of 3 years back in the late '70s where my wife and I had two autos. From personal experience I've found that autos numb down the driving experience, people become less attentive and are more likely to do foolish things like gab on cell phones, or eat meals.

I think we all need to chip in - and run full page ad/type pleas in a few major newspapers across the country for Ford to get their act together and stop the dealers from charging from $6,000 (on 05Mustang GT) up to $20,000 dollar mark-ups (on 07 GT500) on premium Ford Mustang... I for one am really tired of this practice - I went through 6 months of this mistreatment and the waiting game with my 2003 Mach 1... Ford is in the business of selling cars namely in our case the Ford Mustang... The quick and easy way of solving this problem would be for Ford to NOT PUT A LIMIT on special interest Mustangs like the Shelby GT, Shelby GT500 and the future GT350.... If EVERYONE who wanted a Shelby could get one at a FAIR PRICE maybe Ford would have ALOT MORE HAPPY CUSTOMERS proud to own a Ford Shelby GT500 - who wouldn't feel ripped off... Randy Anderson
