What would you do? Parnelli Jones
I found a 2007 Parnelli Jones, a one of a kind, but I'm not sure in the best of ways. This guy removed the orange paint and removed the orange seat trims and black the whole thing out, interior and exterior (kept the 302 theme on the outside like a black GT/CS, black on flat black).
I think this has reduced the value of the car, would you all agree? Granted, the engine, suspension, transmission, all of that is intact, but it's not orange and black! It's black, interior and exterior.
Would you invest your pennies in something like that? Gimme your thoughts please.
Thanks!

Nope, I love the Parnelli Jones edition in the Orange/Black theme. What he did was devalue an future resale value it may have... if you're interested in performance, then go for it, but if you want the 'collectors' one, pass.

That's what I was thinking. I still haven't decided if I want it for the performance aspect (engine, suspension, trans) or the collector's aspect. Even if I re-paint it, I would have to do it at Saleen's to bring it back to its collector stauts. Would ya'l agree with that statement?
Interior would be much more difficult and $$$$$$$$$$ (even the orange stiching is gone from the seats!!!).

I think the changes have ruined it from a collector's standpoint. If you like the car with the black paint and interior along with all the performance upgrades, then I would buy it (if the price is right!), just don't expect it to have the same value as an original PJ. I am guessing it probably looks a bit like the Dark Horse Saleen just announced.

Didn't a dealer do this because they were having trouble selling the vehicle? If I remember right, they blamed it on the color instead of the $15,000 dealer markup.
Morons.
I don't know if this is one of those cars, but either way, I'd run.

In my opinion, that color scheme was integral to the character of the car. That's not to say that it would not be a nice vehicle, however, many people would most likely expect to pay much less for that significant of a change.

The car you see in that picture is the one I'm talking about (obviously there aren't that many idiots out there that would paint a PJ all black... or are there?).
Anyhoot, price is below 40K.... I agree with everyone here that if the purchase is for the collector's value of it all, that's definitely lost, but if it is for the performance it might just be a good investment.

but at that price I would walk away fast, Look at some of these deals I saw at a dealer
a dan gurney saleen
that you can get for under 40, they also had a new PJ that's been on the lot for a few years that they would love to deal on
If you want a pj get one that not been butchered, you can get one for under 40k even 35k if you look around.

I would whole-heartedly agree with George and Glenn on this. The PJ is in my opinion the most beautiful s197 there is, and defininitely the best looking Saleen s197. Get it in original form, or not at all, especially knowing the information that George posted above. Go find the deals on the non-butchered one and don't get suckered for this black one. It doesn't sound like a deal. Don't pay for someone else's mistake.

I love the PJ, wish I had one. I'd love to upgrade with the Super Shaker for the PJ and then I'd have the most awesomest Mustang I could ever want. I like that its 302 has forged internals, I feel limited with hp in my GT.
