Ford: More SEs on the way
From Automotive News:
Ford has pumped out a succession of low-volume, tricked-out Mustangs since redesigning the pony car for the 2005 model year. Ford execs say they have never had as many special-edition Mustangs in the stable as they do now.
Despite all those special-edition choices, Mustang fans are clamoring for more, Ford says.
"They want Mach 1, they want Boss," says Mustang chief designer Doug Gaffka.
So stay tuned: Ford vows not to disappoint. The company could announce another Mustang one-off any day now.

GT350?.....probably not...a Mach would be cool.

I heard from someone who was pretty close to the Bullitt project that the Mach1 will ONLY happen if talks with Shinoda for a new BOSS fall through...

Ford will likely hold the Boss until the '10 restyle to compete with the Camaro/Challenger. Ford doesn't have to clear ANYTHING with Shinoda, they own the Boss nameplate, Shinoda only has the rights to Shinoda Boss.

It would be cool (or kewl to some) to see a regular and a super-hot 3.5 V6 offered--twin-turbos provided to Steeda for the ultimate QS6 and to Shelby for the ultimate Terlingua Racing Team Mustang V6. If built in-house, the TT model could become the resurrected GT350--a GT500 with the TT V6--all smog-legal, etc. For competition, Multimatic could be touched again to build the FR350C--basically, an FR500C with the TT 3.5 V6 and no watering-down as had to be done to the FR500C to get the Grand American Road Racing Association to certify the FR500C for the GS class.
Twin turbos--Kick ***, and Kick *** Again. For good measure.
Sold for the prevention of disease only.

It would be cost prohibitive. A V8 can give the same performance with greater reliability and less cost. Turbos can be a warranty nightmare if not designed and manufactured for reliability.

If I know Ford it will likely save the best SE for last, as it did with the last gen. BOSS. It is the missing, most wished for and wanted SE, provided it doesn't disappoint and wows everyone like the GT500 has.

I agree
Definitely ! But what I hope doesn't happen is that we will one day look back and say "How can anything so butt -ugly be so much faster than our Mustangs , as-is from the factory !? " Not only are we insulted by its looks --- we have to watch it pass us on the 1320 (1/4 mile ). That is just wrong !!!! Well, at least my 4 blue little buddies seem to agree --- How about you ??

so far it looks like there won't be a new SE for '09. Looks like they will finish up the 7,700 Bullitts for '09.
'09 will be a short production run. They may be saving the next SE for 2010 which starts production Jan '09
