Boss/Mach "Rumored Facts" from a good source

A lot of what we ask for here isn't completely implausible, unfortunately enough this one is. The only way an aluminum 5.4L V8 from Ford....outside of the Ford GT....was going to happen is if the GT500 warranted tooling up for a small run. The reason being it would take a car with decent sized production numbers and at least a moderately high price tag to cover the costs of producing an engine that might see 15-20k units a year production wise at best, and even those numbers are assuming that more than just the GT500 would actually use the mill. When that car didn't get an alloy block wew knew without question that nothing else would either.

Agree, no 5.4L AL engine in a Mustang. Personally, I'd like to see an all alloy 5.0L 4V engine in a Boss 302 and a iron block or AL block 5.8L 2V or 4V engine in a Boss 351 to replace the GT500.

My fat fingers flew too fast and I just caught your reply...I edited the post...(425 horse)...that is the hp of the 6.1
It annoyed me to no end that they could not find 1 teeny tiny pony, or even a couple of dwarf horses to get them up to 426...a MAGICAl number for any Hemi and a good marketing boost.
They could put manuals behind them...they just don't want cry babies wining about burnt clutches.

The people designing the hemi's probably didn't do any research on the original engines. An even number sounds easier to market, so that is what they made it.

I hope a Mach 1 offering is a substantial SE, moreso than the Bullitt (and I like the Bullitt). The more tid-bits I read the more I wonder how far FMC will go to make a 'new' Mach 1 a proper SE.

I think the gnashing of teeth over the Bullitt was way over-blown, but I do agree that people really will have reason to complain if Ford somehow botches the Mach 1. The Bullitt was never meant to be a high HP car, but the Mach 1 needs to at least be in 350-400HP range. Like the inevitable Boss (which incidentally should be in the 425-475HP range unless Ford doesn't mind knocking the GT500 off its pedestal), the Mach 1 is a SE that Ford really needs to be sure they get right.

Much as I loved Diamonds are Forever, I think a "Bondstang" is a bit cheesy. Just do a Mach 1 and give it styling cues from that generation.
Although, didn't Ford have ONE vehicle licensing option left in its contract with Eon Productions...after the pink T-Bird? Maybe this is them exercising that one remaining option.

What is going on up in Dearborn ... ???
They build another lame movie tribute Mustang (like the 2008 BULLITT) and they screw up the MACH 1 I will be THROUGH WITH FORD ~ !!!
If the BOSS is made like the last ones ... they won't be good for daily commuters. They CAN build the MACH 1 similar and make it more streetable as opposed to "road-racer" only (referring mostly to the 70 302 BOSS).
IF THEY SCREW ME AGAIN ... I'M OUTTA THEIR WORLD ~ !!!
