Amy,

Took the Shelby tour last week, really cool. Nice to see the Shelby GT up close and not in pictiures, and got a chance to sign the wall. Very cool.

While I was there I saw two black GT500 verts, and a vista blue GT coupe up on the rack, nestled among all the black GT's. What's up with these, a little prototype work on some new models?

Nice facility...

Is that place cool, or what? They wouldn't let you take pictures in the back, huh? Me either, but I got a hands-on inspection on the CS6. I like it better in person, minus the super-sized graphics. I've been there a couple of times, always hoping to catch the old man there, but he's supposedly only in every month or so. Neat cars, though. No one should go to Vegas and miss the Shelby plant. The pic is old number 98, the most photographed Cobra of the 60's, now naked and polished. Priceless.

Amy,

purely hypothetically speaking if say you guys were working on a GT350 or another model with say close to 600 HP what would you say the time frame for that to either be "officially" announced or to be available to purchase? Purely hypothetical of course

well hypothetically, which one would you choose seeing is how some are farther away than others?

Oh yea, almost forgot. Not to dog sales people to death and Ford but another typical story. I am traveling back from a customers plant Wednesay and I go by a Ford dealer and decided to stop and see if they had a GT500 allocation available. They are in a small town and oout of the way so you never know. 5 people are standig outside smoking and doing whatever and I ask them if one os a sales person. One guy says yes and we start talking. He says he likes my Mustang GT and I ask him about the GT500. He says they have both sold for this year and their 2008 allocation as well but he his 2009 is open. I asked what kind of mark up over MSRp and he said none. They arent trying to rape anyone just sell cars. So I got a card and told him id get back to him. I then asked if he had any news on the Shelby GT. He said yes he just told me. I then proceeded to explain...several times...that there was a new Shelby besides the GT500 coming out roughly winter to spring. It was in between the Gt and GT500. I explained that it was sold through a dealer and was built at the Shelby plant, or converted I should say. he got irritated and said he wished Ford wouldnt do tht stuff as they were just going to kill the demand on the 500. I said not IMO because there are tons of people wanting the 500 and this new GT and he still didnt agree. I just said thanks for his time and left. So as for the "we just try to sell cars" speech I knew it was a load of ca ca. And the guy didnt know ca ca about the Mustang to begin with. I was amazed at what I had to explain to him. So if you just want to sell cars learn your sh*t and then maybe yoou'd be worth MSRP...rant done

Nearly any TMS member could run circles around the average salesman as far as Mustangs go. It is appalling how little most of them know about the product that they make a living trying to sell. There are certainly exceptions, but they're probably members here too. Dealers should make it mandatory for them to browse our forums.
