Time will tell on how much the Shelby badging is worth! because what really drove the demand and collectivity of the original Shelby's was the fact that it was a Mustang that was heavily modified! in performance and aperance! and very low production numbers compared to the 500.000 + Mustangs being produced at the time! Today we are looking at Mustang production numbers of 150.000 and dropping! If they do produce 10.000 Shelby's as talked about in 07 that means 1 out of every 15 Mustang 's will have a Shelby badge on it! not counting the GT500! that a lot of Shelby's floating around ! compared to the original Shelby production numbers!!

You're in the ball park, but to be precise, production has been climbing over the last 2 years (since the introduction of the new body style)

MY 2006: 165,762 produced
MY 2005: 160,412 produced
MY 2004: 141,907 produced
MY 2003: 153,134 produced
MY 2002: 142,404 produced

To your point. The shear volume of Shelby GTs and GT 500s produced will dwarf the past in both overall numbers and percentages.

Yes I was just rounding off figures! But sales last month dropped again! just little over 10.000 units sold! Theres a very good Chance that sales have peaked and are headed back to pre 2005 production!

I here you, but they've already sold more in 2006 than they did in 2005 or 2004. I would think that 2007 will also be a good year but agree that when the Challenger and Camaro come out, Ford will have tougher times.

I love Shelby Mustangs - I had a 1967 GT500 for ten years and miss it badly - I ONLY SOLD IT to buy my house when I was about to get married...... Their isn't a day that goes by that I don't kick myself in the butt for selling it... But you can't live in a car as the expression goes....

I know I WILL own one of the new Shelby Mustangs within the next 5 years either new or - if I was smart used.... Why used - as much as we all hate that word USED - here me out folks - yes used is a dirty word BUT it's alot cheaper than NEW.... In 5 years time all the excitement over the NEW SHELBY MUSTANGS will have mostly died down... All the rich guys who were stupid enough to buy 2007 GT500 cars for $60,000 or more will have gotten tired of them and will be on to other NEW CARS... And will be looking to sell their used low mileage Shelbys for a more reasonable price, and I'll be their waiting.....

I would really love to buy a NEW Shelby GT, GT500 or a GT350 ( I've got my fingers crossed on a GT350 ) with a automatic transmission... I would LOVE to special order a Shelby Mustang from the factory ( which I've done 4 or 5 times with past Ford Mustangs) but I WILL ONLY DO THAT AT A "FAIR PRICE".... I paid list price on my 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 only because I always wanted a Mach 1 done right with a shaker hoods scoop... Would have paid 5 or 10 grand more for the car - NO WAY...............

The current Shelby has the GT500 name it has 500 horsepower but it's missing alot to make it really special... Sorry but it's like a 2003/2004 Cobra Mustang with GT500 stripes, yes it has Carroll Shelby's stamp of approval but sorry I think the car needs more to tie it in with the orginal Shelby Mustangs of old - like a roll bar and shoulder harness, working upper and lower side scoops, t-bird/cougar wide tail lights ram air hood scoop etc.... You want me to really drool......... Ford & Shelby want REAL EXCITEMENT try adding those items to the current Shelby GT & GT500 and make it a TRUE BOY RACE CAR and just maybe NO one would be complaining about the mark ups on these cars... We all be taking on second jobs to afford the down payments... I had THAT excitement over my 2003 Mach 1 - I put in about 15 hours overtime weekly for a year & a half to buy that car and fought to get it, on the phone every day to Dearborn, and was on the computer EVERY night at the Mach 1 owners site....
I Love Shelby Mustangs like I stated before - but the car NEEDS MORE VISUAL EXCITEMENT to make me go all out for it.... I DON't get that tingly feel in my guts when I see it, like I did with my 1967 GT500 - I'll pay A FAIR PRICE- LIST BUT NOT ABOVE... We all want to own a Shelby Mustang or we would Not be on this site - but bring on the TRUE excitement - Ford/Shelby NEED to up to excitement level - please fix what's missing to make this a REALLY GREAT SHELBY MUSTANG...
