Guess: Your Shelby GT starting price is...

What guess do you have regarding the starting price of a Ford Shelby GT?

What we do know:
Mustang GT Premium, with IUP only in a 5-speed, MSRP is $28010.
Shelby Option 54U is $2,140 for Floormat Delete, Spoiler Delete, Seat Side Airbags, 3:55 Ltd Slip, 18" Alum Wheels, Pony Center Caps.
The following options are not available: 53b Comfort Group, 54G GT app pkg, 54C GT/CS, 63b Premier Trim pkg.
For that matter don't include any options accept the ones that are neccessary for the build. I.E. leave out AAT, Shaker 1000, undercoating, etc.

So $28010 plus $2140 plus the following:

The Shelby GT's seperate sticker will say:
GT/CS based Fascias and Side scoops
18" Wheels-Black aluminum
Side air bags
Tire Inflator kit
Bright aluminum pedals

Shelby Modifications
FR Power Upgrade package
Cold air intake
Mufflers
Premium fuel calibration
FR Handling Package
Front and rear sway bars
Tuned dampers, springs, bushings
Cross tower brace
FR short throw shifter
Upgraded rear axle (3.55 AT)

Appearance items
Hood pins and hood scoop
Shelby grill insert and pony badge
Shelby racing and body side stripes
Shelby GT Sill palte and floor mats with Shelby logo
Shelby dash plaque, underhood engine plaque
Powered by Ford fender badges.

$35145

ie 28010 + 2140 + 4995 = $35145

I am guessing that the $28010 msrp = $26249 invoice, the $2140 MSRP is $2000 invoice and the $4995 MSRP is $3995 invoice.
So a dealer could make $2901 profit minimum.

Don't forget the ridiculous dealer markups. I'm guessing it'll be the GT500 all over again.

That's about right. Plus goodies if you like , such as SC and GH-H hood, etc. Shelby will be glad to add these items too for a price.

Yep, You wont touch if for $35,000. Gotta remember the dealer surcharge... They did it with the 05s, the GT 500s, and now Shelbys, then Boss or Bullitts next year, and then when the new design come out in 09 or 10. It's infinite... Suppy and demand! Do yourself a favor and buy a GT and modify yourself

Or find one of those rare dealers that doesn't screw the customer and get the car you want? ...

Agreed! I'm in my early 40's, so maybe I'm either too young or too old to get the Carol Shelby mystique, but I don't understand paying 10grand for a few mods with only a slight increase in HP. I own a 04 Mach 1, so I understand paying more for a SE that is a step up in performance. Is there something I'm missing with the Shelby GT?

The only thing that the Shelby GT has over the standard GT performance wise is the FRPP package that adds and additional 25 hp. Buy a CAI and tune for $500.00, which will give you the same performance, and save 10K.

Actually it's a 19hp increase. See post #33 in this thread http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...623#post784623

It also has the FRPP handling package which a lot of people keep skipping. In addition to the cosmetic additions the real draw to me are all the optional parts from SA you can have put on it as well. You can add a S/C for more horsepower, better brakes etc. Still under the factory warranty. I like having those options. Now if you don't then definitely buy an '07 GT and add what you want to it. They are offering incentives on the GT's now. To each their own, just get the Mustang you want and get out and enjoy it.
