Black Shelby GT at MSRP
Black Shelby GT at MSRP
Much to my surprise, our local dealer, Gainesville Ford, has number 160 on the showroom floor and they don't have a mark up on it. I even asked to make sure, it's an MSRP deal. Sticker is a little over 39K. It is a stick. ....just thought I'd pass it on for those looking

It's stand looks great, very imposing from a distance. The 18" Bullitt wheels are a good match, so are the exhaust tips, shifter, and stripes. The fender emblem looks good. The front grill is not a good fit, seems forced in and does line up right, neither is the crooked pony emblem. The hood scoop, which is painted silver with a black vynil mid strip, fares no better. It's warped and have developed dings pointing up and down.

Correcting those issues would make the Shelby GT the best all around Mustang of the present generation behind the GT500.

Did anybody notice that on the Ford window sticker under the 54U upfitters package it lists the 18" wheels and the 3.55 rear axle and the Shelby sticker lists them too plus the front and rear fasia and side scoops. I thought the $2140 54U package included all that. Why is Shelby double charging since Ford already installed the wheels, axle, scoops and fasias?
These cars have a Gas Guzzler Tax????......The standard GT does not have a gas guzzler tax. Both the Mustang GT and The Shelby GT have 3;55's in the rear. The Shelby GT gets a few less miles to the gallon then the Mustang GT. Why? The only mod done to the motor is the CAI with the pro-cal recalibration. The recal brings the fuel epa down that much?????.....Ford couln't find a way aroud this? This car gets almost the same gas mileage as the GT500 on sticker.......Something seems wrong here.......My Mustang GT which is bone stock gets almost 28 on the highway when cruising.....Drove it on a 1000 mile trip this summer (all highway) and I calculated about 28 m/g........
Your right. 3:55 were an option on my car. The standard gear ratio is 3:31. But I honetly don't think they make theat big of a difference in calculating mileage. come to think of it I don't think the calculations on the window stickers for the 3:31 vs. 3:55 are different. I think they both give the same gas mileage listings. And actually the Auto Mustang GT gets a mile per gallon or two less then the 5 speed mustang GT putting it closer to the EPA of the Shelby GT.......Sothing seems odd here with this........Maybe the Gas guzzler tax is for shipping the car from Mich. to Vegas and then from Vegas to the dealer.......That cost has to be built in somewhere......From Mich. to the dealer costs us all 740 dollars (Dest. and delivery) so now there is actually two Destination and deliveries going on in the case of the Shelby GT. I refuse to believe that Shelby is absorbing the added traveling costs.....

see this thread, the GGT is because of the FRRP parts

Here's my "Devil's Advocate" thinking...
I find the Shelby GT very appealing and considered one before ordering my GT. They look very cool. But at $39,000, it just didn't make sense to me. New, well-equipped GTs are ten grand less (with no ggt). You can choose any color, and options not even available on the Shelby. (If I bought a Mustang without the power passenger seat, my wife wouldn't ride with me as she couldn't see over the dash!)
Add the mods of your choice and you have a less expensive, better equipped (and maybe better performing) car. You could even add the stripes if you really want the "Shelby" look. (I might even do that
)
It won't have Shelby's blessing but is that worth thousands of extra bucks?
