Ford Shelby GT Added to Expanding Performance Stable:
Ford is adding another fast horse to its expanding performance stable. The Ford Shelby GT is the third modern Shelby Mustang produced through a collaboration of Ford and Shelby Automobiles. The 4.6-liter, 325-horsepower Shelby GT will only be offered as a coupe and in two exterior colors, Performance White or Black.
The current Shelby models are the GT-500, the Shelby GT-H (Hertz rental car) and the Shelby GT (which is based on the GT-H).

There's a whole forum of hate for this new Shelby model!! It's unfortunate there's so much bashing about it because it's an interesting idea of having a mid-level Shelby between the GT and the GT500 in price point and performance.

Hmmm...too many Shelbys...just like the GT350, GT350R, GT350H, GT500, and the GT500KR. I am still pissed they built all of those cars.

I firmly believe you can never have too many V8 Mustangs running around. The more the merrier!!

Maybe focusing on bhp is the wrong thing to do here - the Shelby GT is as much about the carefully crafted suspension modifications as it is about more raw horsepower. I believe that the way a car goes around corners is as important as its' overall oomph.
I remember reading about a guy who hired a GT-H recently, took it to an amateur race meeting and won his class. I bet he didn't give all the credit to the 25bhp that Shelby had added, but to the way the car drove.
As for having an intermediate model between the "wild" GT-500 and the GT is the right thing to do. There are so many other options that exist in the Mustang World, we can do whatever we want to our 'stangs. This model gives us all another canvas to work with.
