2007 Shelby GT-H Convertible!
Tonight, Ford and Carroll Shelby unveiled the Shelby GT-H Convertible live at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction. It was the first time in history that Ford or Shelby unveiled a car on live television.
500 ragtops will be produced. The winner of tonight's auction gets the right to buy VIN #001. The other 499 will be delivered to select Hertz locations. The winning bid was $250,000 by Ron Pratte, who bought 2007 Shelby GT500 VIN #1, 2007 Shelby GT VIN #1, and the $5.5 million Shelby Cobra Super Snake.

not to deter from all the excitement, but....what a waste of money IMO. The GT500, ok that has some pretty respectible upgrades and is a pretty good deal at MSRP (not 60-70k though). I got the chance to take a Shelby-GT for a spin a few weeks back on account my cousin owns the dealership and I'll tell ya a more-or-less stock GT with a tune is pretty much the same car. As for the Hertz, well it has heritage and the coupe was a huge success, but if they make a "for sale" version of this AKA a convertible Shelby-GT...it wont be anything to hold your breath about.
Like I said, IMO, the Shelby GT500....worth every penny at MSRP, but we still need something that will bridge the PERFORMANCE gap between the stock GT and GT500. and IMO Shelby throwing their name on an appearance package (which is pretty much what the Shelby-GT is) we wont ever get there. I think Ford needs to forget about Shelby for a second and stop ridding the name factor and focus on a Ford SVT mustang to bridge that gap. It's clear that by having a third party involved, especialy Shelby, you see crazy price gouging, ridiculous ADMs and whatnot.
To finish...a factory Ford SVT mustang, Boss, Bullit, Mach 1, whatever to compete with the new camaro and other muscle in the neighborhood, rated at 400hp or so would hit the mark. I, and many other people I think, would go for that before a GT500.
Sorry for the long speech....just my take on it all
