That seems odd. I believe 255/45-18 is the correct diameter, so 265/50-18 would be too tall, unless that's what you're looking for.

You're looking for 27" overall diameter. A 275 width CAN fit a 8.5" rim, but it's not ideal for cornering. If you're looking for straight-line performance, though, it should be fine. 255 is generally the correct width for a 8.5" rim.

I just put on 275/45 17s on stock rims (BFG drag radials, original pattern). I have 255/45 17s on the front. On the stock 8 inchers, the 275s look a little "bulgey?", meaning the sidewall sticks out a little, but It looks pretty rad and I haven't noticed a major change in driveability, other than the sidewall on the drag radial isn't as stiff, so the *** end wallows a tad during really hard cornering......but she hooks up right now......I took some pics, will post in a day or two.

I have 245/45/18 up front which are 26.68" and 275/40/18's in the back, which are 26.66"
285/40/18's are 26.97" and 265/45/18 are 27.38". But I don't even know if 265/45/18's even exist.
I'd say that 285's would be your best bet. 275's are just fine w/ my wheels, and 285's are less than a half inch wider than that. I wanted 285's but they didn't have them in stock, so I settled for 275's.
I'd go w/ the 285's.

285 is too much for a 8.5" wheel, 275 is doable. There are some tire shops that won't fit oversized tires, though. You should also look at the tread width on the tires you're researching, as some 265s have as much tread as a 275, or as little as a 255.
