OK, I'm having a bit of a delema if I should do any mods to the GT/CS. With a limited production vehicle is it going to lower the value? What are your thoughts

 

Cosmetic mods no. Performance mods yes!

 

If you are worried about losing value with the mods, keep the old parts if you want to get it back to original some day, just swap them out.

 

Planning on selling any time soon? A Mustang is like a wedding ring, you pay the big dough and you live with your choice for the rest of your life. No one else can tell you what to do! (I say bump it to 400 Horses!)

 

I think it depends a bit on how long you think you'll keep it? If a long time, the mods are likely OK, but if you're thinking short term ownership, don't know if I'd get too carried away with the mods.

I'm not touching my GT/CS until at least mid next year, and maybe not even then. Everyone makes their own mind up about this, and there is no real "correct" answer.

 

I'll keep mine a Virgin pretty much, as its is Just Good enough for me that way but I will have a quick change CAI on it to go from filter to box , and a tracking system just incase will be about it. people will always say you should do this or that , but it is the owner that has to wear that ring so that person really has that decision as to what they like or suites thier needs. I always look at some of the real grat Modded out stuff in awe and appreciate what I have and just sometimes the money it costs to do it.

 

I have been going through this since day one. I have TMS logo stickers for my quarter windows, GT300 stripes, and want black DD bullitts. I never held back on a car before and its starting to bug me.

For some reason I had this idea that if I left my car 100% stock it will be worth something , yet I have no plans on selling (ever if possible) .

When I had a 69 Chevelle I drove it in the snow, took it off road (with the air shocks full) , parked it outside no cover, smashed it up , and now its worth more today anyway to the current owner.

If I had a Cali Special I would be really happy with the exterior.

 

Unless you plan on holding it for 20-30 years and almost never driving it I would not be to concerned about mods affecting the value. In the short term it will not make that much of a difference, and like another poster said just keep the original parts and you can put them back on. While it is a limited edition, it is not that limited and the timeframe for them to become rare collector cars is very lenghty.

 

Cars are bad investments. Most people don't buy a vehicle thinking about long term gains. Sure it's a SE, however, as soon as you drove it off the lot it depreciated 5-7K. It will not maintain it's original value for another 25+ years. I don't know you, but I bet you will not have this car beyond 5-10 years regardless of what your original intentions were. My point is... enjoy it! If you want to modify it, than modify it. Whatever makes you happy.

 

I'm going to put the Shelby GT- GT-H exhaust on mine, and that's it.

 

Thanks for all the input. I love the car the way it is but would love it more with more power. The Hurst short shifter would be another thing I've been looking at. I just feel I'm taking something away from the car if I start doing mods to it. I would like to find out the final production numbers, that might sway my mind....

 

 

I'm having a similar delima on how far to mod this car.....I had my '05 coupe modded with most of the bolt on's and want my new GT/CS to be at least as fast as the '05 was ...... but I know that I'm not really going to be happy unless it's in the 400hp range which = supercharger. I'm thinking the Roushcharger is the way to go with the warranty and all...but at $7K - $8K it's a substantial investment. If only I could find a Roushcharger for $5K installed.....

Oh, and I don't really think our GT/CS is an LE - I believe that Ford will make as many as they can sell for '07 & '08

 

I am going to bump it up to 400hp N/A in my GT/CS(see mod list in my signature)

Kevin you are a bad bad man.....just when I thought I'd be happy with a CAI/Tune....here I go yearning for that RoushCharger again . By the way how's that new Stang of yours running these days....please post your driving impressions after several weeks when you get a chance.

I love the supercharger! You Know once you Drive it you are Done! I stopped Driving it to work so give me a heads Up If you want a Spin! BTW I saw my old 05 a couple of days ago the New Owners love it! I pointed out some of the Mods an the car and the Unique My Color Retrofit. Also I saw your 05 Being test Drove today! I do not Know if ot sold yet though!

Like the grill and the exhaust. Too much other stuff going on, just my opinion.
