@#$% just got the check engine light.

Beautiful day here. Just went on a nice Sunday drive never got on it and on the way home I got a check engine light. Codes P0171 and P0174. A lean condition on both banks. MMMMM guess I check the MAF and uninstall the 93 octane tune. Anything anybody can think off to help me?

Call your tuner, he should be able to fix it easy.

Darell - I had thought the XCal 2 had the ability to clear codes? I'd try clearing them and see if they occur again 1st, then call your tuner and see what they say. With my JLT II CAI / XCal I and tune I'd get a code every once in a while and clear it - but it generally wouldn't come back for seveal months.....

The codes are a lean A-F condition on both banks. I did clear them. Thinking of just reinstalling the stock air box and get some work done at my Ford Dealer.

Who did you get the cai from and x cal from? was it a xcal generic tune and a third party CAI? The ford dealer cannot fix a tune problem you are putting in. You can have him check the tune for you.

If I'm understanding you correctly....I wouldn't take an aftermarket tune anywhere near my dealer - they won't work on it and it will be noted that you had an aftermarket tune installed - my local dealer would definitely try and void my warranty over that. Try the person that made the tune - they should help you. Who's tune/CAI combo do you have?

I've already contacted John Demolet from Tunable Induction. He asked about my Octane gas and then told me how to up my A-F alittle bit. After I cleared the codes and filled up with BP Ultimate 93 Octane and all is good. I'm in the process of installing my gauges now. I need a wire source for my gauge lights so they turn on and off with the key switch.

Can't say enought good things about John D. and his products. GOOD STUFF!!!!

dly,

How did things turn out? I've been running a C&L racer intake and Brenspeed 93 octane tune since Septemmber and I just got those same DTC's today for the first time. I plan on clearing them and seeing if they come up again. Any chance it could be due colder weather?

Well I have gotten those codes 3 times now. Always after a long cruise at Hi-way speed (60 to 70) and not getting on it at all.
John D gave me his toll free phone number and I have talked to Ed his computer guy. We can't get the SCT unit to unlock so I can add some points to the A-F function. He did sent me the tune files in *.ll3 format but I havn't figure out how to modify that format.
Thinking about getting a tune from Brenspeed or Bama. I only live an hour away from Brenspeed but I heard so many good things about Bama.

I just started to run the 91 octane tune w/ 93 octane gas but the car is stored for the winter now, so I wait till spring to decide on what tune to get.
