Hood scoop

Hi me again, I took my Lill Red to the dealer today. My hood scoop isn't flush with the hood. Saw some one elses post about their scoop. To the point, The body shop at the Ford dealers is going to seat the scoop flush to the hood for me. The guys mentioned something about double sided sticky tape made for this application. I know the scoop is fake but it could look better, not to mention the water that keeps dripping out when I dry the hood. Does anyone know about this process and what do you think of the results. Will it last, is it reliable and will it look better?
I want to hear about it before I let them do it, Thanks for any input/insight. Heidi

the tape should hold it pretty well. Lots of them out there with just tape holding them on. Use a leaf blower to blow the water out after washing your car.

Heidi,
Can you post a pic from the drivers seat viewing the hood scoop so I can see if it's as bad as mine is. Just got mine a few weeks ago.

to add images, click post reply, not quick reply
type your message, the scroll down to manage attachments, upload them, and close the window once you see the images in the fields. then preview your post, if you can't see the images, we can't either

Aren't the scoops bolted on from under the hood ? Can't you simply torque down a bit on such fasteners to pull the scoop down flush ?

I'd try to stay away from using tape...but thats just me....

That problem has come up on these boards before. I think they (Ford dealer) replaced one for a guy in California. Tape will help seal the gap and you won't notice it. They also will use the bolts too so, both is better then just tape.

Wowaa that's way worse lifted than mine was , So I took it in they had to order a new scoop because they would rebolt & sticky tap and then there was a slight warp in the hood that I'll live with as it looks better.

This is been seen before, keep in mind if the scoop is in any way a variation of the mold, not all of them will be 100% accurate.

Lets us know about the tape when you get it done. It seems like mine flex's with the heat. When it is warm out the scoop does not fit flush and when it is cold it does. But it is annoying.

well this kills my interest in a hood scoop, they should fit better than that, seems like alot of denero for it, and to have it lift like that, so Ill probably hold out for a complete hood, but if the hood is plastic resin too it might warp the same way any thoughts

Update on hood scoop

Got mscoop fixed at ford this morn, They lifted the scoop off put in some washers to lift the front then taped it all the way around. Close up IT IS NOT PERFECT However I think over all it is a good job and is an improvement. I put in before picks to compair. What do you think.

Update on hood scoop

I have some pictures of the inside as well. One can see the washers used. Looking at the last pic, I think it will be show worthy.
