First mod: OUTLAWS!

After reading as much as I've read on here about the Flowmaster 40 series and all the blown baffles and buzzing and rattling that comes with them, I decided to take a look into the exhaust tip . The car has had this buzz and rattle since I got it...I figured I'd be changing the exhaust at some point and I'd just deal with it. It got really bad the other day, so I grabbed a flashlight and looked inside. Both sides COMPLETELY blown out...no guts whatsoever. Just little bits of rust hanging on the inside wall where the baffles are supposed to be. My guess is the PO got them 6 years ago when the car was new. I've ordered the Outlaw axle-back kit. No baffles...and by the sound clips they sound awesome. I thought it would be something I could install myself...looked in a little closer, it's all welded. We've got a pretty good muffler shop nearby though...just waiting for parts now!

Are they a lot louder than stock or just a different exhaust note?

The outlaws sound deeper in the clips I've heard. Based on the reviews, they sound deep at idle, and rather aggressive when you get on the throttle. Can't wait til I get them installed Monday. I'd like to hear what the 40 series sound like in person with all the baffles in place. I've heard they're aggressive as well...I'm just a little hesitant to go back with the same mufflers and end up with the same issue again.

They look fine in the photo. I just hope they don't look 'fart can' huge like the ricer cars once it's on the car.
By the way, you have the same flooring we do. Must be an NC thing.

I was concerned about that too. I think having the gt500 / gt/cs rear bumper is gonna help make them look a little smaller. Here's a link to some customer photos on American Muscle.

Oh yeah...that floor is the lowes special. ;-)

Got em' installed! Can't tell you guys how "mean" these things sound. Nice deep rumble at idle...and a beast at WOT. Didn't take too long to put them in. Had to re-weld the hangers on both mufflers...but I think it's because the kit was designed to work with the 2010 model as well. Either way...best sounding exhaust on the market. I'm sure if and when I add a CAI, that'll wake it up a little more too.

Hey guys...still working on the vids. Have a new issue...the battery died this afternoon when I got to my driveway. Went for a new battery and put it in. Just for giggles...I ran the startup test on my battery tester. It said charging system problem..the car message center says it's ok...any input?
