Financing 2008 - No Cash

I first ordered a 2007 back in April offering $1000 cash back and 4.9% for 60 months. That order was canceled on me after 5 weeks in and I was forced to order a new 2008. The car is expected to be delivered on Monday and I was just checking the Ford site and found no incentives being offered. As a matter of fact, the interest rate for 60 months is now at 5.9%. I feel like this screwing by Ford is just too much. I don't think I want this car anymore.

you cant be serious...actually the same thing happened to me. however I am not financing through ford anyway. im going through my credit union. either way i cant imagine you would let a car like this go for a measley 1% difference.

1% higher and $1000 from Ford I will not have, and was counting on. The Dealer must take this off the sticker. I am putting down $10,000 cash.

I would say if you dont think you can afford it and are having second thoughts, to just walk away.....You can always get one some other time.

I am ready to do battle.

When the 2007 order was canceled by Ford and we put together the 2008, he verbally said there would be a price freeze. The 2007 totaled $31,225. I added HID (575.00) and Sirius (195.00) to the 2008, this should bring the 2008 to $31,995. There is a Destination and Delivery charge on the 2008 sticker that I did not pay on the 2007, and will not on the 2008. The total Vehicle & Options tallies $31,665.00 on the 2008 sticker, plus a $745.00 delivery that I will refuse to pay. The 3.55 option went up from $100 to $300 on the 2008, I will fight to get that $200 back because of his price freeze.

The total I am expecting to deal with for the 2008 is $31,465.00.

Minus my 10K and his $1,500 to $2000 off sticker.

Here is where I am in a rut...today I had to return a 2003 Explorer off lease and he gave me a 2006 loaner free of charge until the Stang comes in. So he almost has me by the ***** because right now I do not own a car. I will be literally "walking" away if we can not cut a deal.

i was getting $1645 off with the 07. my dealer said they will eat the price diff in the 08, plus i'll be saving about 350 or whatever it was for the side airbags. sure that isnt 1645, but i also told them we will have to work on the price due to the bs ive had to deal with. infact the reality is, i dont even have a order for an 08. my paperwork is still for the 07, and they never had me sign new paperwork. so i kinda have the edge, although, i believe ever dealer has us by the ***** because they can sell a gt/cs anyday of the week if i dont buy it.

This is very true. If I walk off that lot, the car will be gone by the end of the week. I have purchased my last three Fords from this dealership and I just hope they are fair about this.

i would fight it, you should get a fair deal. dont let them push you around. if they dont budge, walk away. i mean actually walk away. call a cab and they will call you back. they will make a deal with you. they always do.

Hey Daniel, sorry to hear about what they said. But there was no "price freeze" on any order from one model year to another. There are too many variables (option price increases, as you can see by the 3.55 rear increase, car increases). The only "freeze" would be when an order is placed at one price level, and during the build process the price level increases, the customer never pays the increase. Its called "price protection". All the dealer has to do is apply for it (as long as the car is taken delivery within 7 days), and you pay the price you were quoted when the order was placed 6-8 weeks prior.

The lack of a rebate? Its always like this when the next year comes right out. Usually a few months into the new model year will a rebate appear. The rate is actually pretty good at 5.9% for an '08. About the destination & deliver fee? Just curious, whats the issue about not paying that? Its a fee that is charged to EVERY car, and all customers have to pay it including A/Z/X & D-Plans. Heck, I even paid it when I ordered my car, and I got D-Plan. Its part of the price of buying a car. Did they specifically say they were paying your destination fee when you had placed your order for the 2007? Just want to get a grasp of whats going on (if its okay)?

Hey Jeff, thanks for the input. The reason I have a problem paying the destination and delivery is because it was NOT on the original 2007 order that I signed. This $745.00 charge has jacked up the price on the 2008. Bad enough the 2007 order also shows a "Document Free" for $129.50...whatever that is. If the original 2007 order showed a destination charge and it was listed on the signed 2007 order contract and included in the $31,225 total...then I would not have had a problem. The dealer has no right surprising me with this charge when I am ready to pick the car up.

No cash back and 5.9%, I guess I have to live with that, but I am still expecting the dealer to take more off that sticker then he originally planned.

Did they give you a copy of the VOC and/or the DORA? Whenever anyone prices out any car, truck or SUV, let alone a Mustang, the D & D are always on the printout. If they totalled upi the numbers for the car on the order and forgot to put in the destination, then shame on them and they shouldn't make you pay it on the 2008, thats their mistake and they should man up to it.

I am not sure what a VOC or DORA is, I am assuming it is that long pink colored sheet (no heading or title) with all my options ordered. I just double checked and no where on this sheet does it say anything about D&D charges.

No, a VOC (or Vehicle Order Confirmation) is the order that shows all the codes, and the price. Its the price directly from Ford's computer. This is what is printed when someone comes in to get a price on a factory order. The car isn't yet processed. The DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) is the print out that the dealer gets back a day or 2 after ordering the car. This will show your order number and priority number. It sounds like the salesperson priced out the vehicle manually, and didn't use the computer to imput all the options into CONCEPTS to get an official price, hence he forgot the destination! Sounds like a rookie mistake to me. If this is what they did, I'd fight them on it.

That looks like it. Wonder why they didn't do this for your 2007 order?

Maybe he did but he never gave it to me. And on that long pink sheet, 2007 and 2008, there is no D&D listed.

Should it have been on this 2008 sheet? Does D&D have a code?

Yeah it should have been, BUT since there were no prices for 2008, that is why it isn't listed. Something just doesn't sound right with what they are doing. At least now with how I am used to doing things.
