Differnte size tires on OEM rims
Differnte size tires on OEM rims
Has anyone used a different size, from the OEM, tire on the GT/CS 18" rims? Has anyone had any bad experiences with the BF Goddrich G/Force tires?
A quick search will reveal dozens of threads about tire-size and B F Goodrich tires.
Consensus seems to be that you don't want to go larger than 255-series with the 18x8.5 rims.
During the approximately 8,000 miles I drove on two different sets of the BFGs I found them to be good all-around tires, comfortable and pretty sticky, without much noise or tramlining.

It's absolutely amazing the difference in the truck world and mustang world as far as tire sizes go. I have 7.5 inch wide rims and a 265(10.5) inch tires with no issues.
What is the reason for the differences here?

Ok so the sidewall height is determined by the 265/75. 265mm is the width of the tire tread and the sidewall height is determined by multiplying 265mm x 75%. Which is roughly what? 198.75 mm or a little under 8".
So a tire with an 8" sidewall can fit on a 7" wide wheel with a 10.5" tread width q heck of a lot easier than a tire with a 3" sidewall.
