Brakes
Brakes
Has anyone noticed any surface rust forming on the brakes? Also I woke up this morning reversed out of the driveway and it sounds like they were rubbing. At the stop light the noise went away?
I would seat your break pads. This is done by going to a empty highway or back road and going to 60mph breaking hard to about 5mph and repeating about 7 times. This will heat and smear a good film of brake pad material on your rotors. after the last slow down, you must release and cruise around 45-60mph without breaking for abot 5 -7 min. to cool down rotors. This will make your pads and rotors behave much more efficiently and much quieter. Erik
Where in MI
ljzippy, I moved to Northville between Ann Arbor and Detroit to teach at the college for creative studies. I was in LA before, and had great winter weather like you must now. I was able to take the car out yesterday, but today it will be snowing again. Erik
It's normal on all cars. The rust goes away after a decent drive. It happens after lack of braking/storing the car. Look at the stangs on any lot. You notice it because the rims have large openings in them, that you can peek into
