alternator

so i bought a 07 gt cs with 35.7k miles on it about a week ago but it was bought in 06 so the warranty has expired. i was driving from my apartment and my radio cut off and my abs light and tcs light came on and the radio display said low battery. i pulled into the ford dealership but service was closed and i tried to start it up it wouldnt do anything but about an hour later when the tow truck got there it cranked up and i was able to get it home. i was wondering where a good place to get a new altenator from and if i should just go with an upgraded one if one is available. thanks

PA Performance is a great place to get an alernator. I upgraded to a 200 amp but only because of a multi amp custom stereo. The 130 amp is more than enough for a stock electronics car. If anything it's the batteries that are smallish in these cars. IMHO

Are you certain its the alternator. Have you taken it to Advance Auto or somewhere and had them check it? Because sometimes it can be a battery and I'd hate to see you waste money on the alternator and have it be the battery.

I wasn't able to do it today but I was going to do it on my next off day. I just wanted to find out a good place to get it incase it was the altenator. But thanks for the info I guess ill just stick to the stock one but I would rather use a reliable place because I've had issues with local auto stores. Thanks again

PA Performance sells and backs up their alternators. Personally I've gotten 3 from them for 3 different cars.

The do sell a 130 amp size.

Just log in and enter your setup and you'll see the choices.

Just looked and the 130 amp is about 100 dollars cheaper than one of the auto stores I called. How long did it take to be delivered. Sorry for the dumb question I don't have internet and its hard to go through websites on my pos phone

It'll ship that day if they have it from Pennsylvania I think. So UPS to where you are from Pennsylvania. I think I got it on the third day here in south Texas.

I'll second that. Do you have a multi-meter? If not, take it to Advance or Autozone and they can check it for free.

That is what I'm planning on doing but I've realized that I have a few tools missing and now I am going to have to wait until I'm off work to go get the tools I need. Plus I need to get the tool for the tensioner.

As its been said on another thread. 1/2" breaker bar does the chore just fine.

so i pulled the altenator off last night after removing the throttle body, and took it to the 24 hour auto zone and they said they were unable to run a bench test on it because they did not have the proper pieces to mount it onto the machine. so then i ran it to the 24 hour advance auto and they did not have the proper program to test it with. so today i took it to an auto electric shop and they said it was a bad stator and regulator so i am just going to have them rebuild it. thanks for all the help
