Yet another "change of plans" story

Well, seems i may pull my hat out of the ring and go to plan B. I placed my deposit back in '05 only to have the owner of my dealership do something drastic. He wants to keep EVERY shelby for his personal collection, so no sales. 5 out of the 6 deposits they held were returned.......with mine being the only one they're holding on to. The VP is bent on getting me the car but I know it's nearly impossible so, on to plan B.

Did some research and came across a fella selling this

It was always my intent on building a Daytona Coupe if the Shelby was a no go. Seems i'm destined to have a Coupe Vs GT-500. I'll keep you guys posted as to what transpires.

Make plans to include A/C. Getting baked alive is one of the main draw backs of classics.

I say tough it out if you can. The shelby hype will be dieing down ina few months and there are always the 08's that will be made and if you keep your deposit, you will be #1 for the next available car.

Hey FiaCobra,

Walk into the dealership with this information about the CONCERN REPORTING (http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=49643)

If the owner still wants to keep all of the 2007 Shelby's for himself, maybe Ford will step to the plate and not deliver any to him.

You should report that dealer. Keeping all the Shelby's for himself is not right nor probably allowed per an agreement with Ford.

That would be like if there was only one dealer selling Playstation 3's and they decided to keep them all for personal use. It wouldn't fly real well with Sony. I can certainly understand though if he wanted to keep maybe one for himself.

That is really bizarre that the owner would want to horde them. I would think that as the owner of a dealership his foremost goal would be to run a profitable business. But he takes the products that he stands to make the most money on and sticks them in his own garage? Weird. I bet the sales force is PO'd, they just lost out on any potential commissions on those cars.

I know the mentioned dealer is one of the largest Roush dealers out this way, I think tomorrow i'm going to drive by there and ask about it, see what they tell me.

THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT I MEAN WHEN I SAY FORD NEEDS TO GET CONTROL OVER ITS DEALER NETWORK!!!!

There is NO WAY ANY DEALER should be allowed to have priority over customers when it comes to stock. I don't know any other retail operation that does business this way. Customers get theirs FIRST, and then if there is allocation or stock left, THEN staff can pick from what's left. These guys are in business to represent and sell product for Ford, not selfishly horde product for themselves. At least, that's the way it SHOULD be.

TAKE A HINT, FORD...OR KEEP ON LOSING MONEY.

I'm going to swing by the dealership this week to find out more info. On one hand, i have a deposit down on a Shelby that the owner wants to screw me out of, and on the other hand, i have a guy willing to bend over backwards to sell me a Daytona.

Hey, just noticed something. I have the coolest member #. 1968....gotta love it !!

The dealer is probaly going to hold them and see how much $$$$$ comes out of the woodwork - typical supply and demand scenario. This way he can try and make some extra money out of them. The exact reason I bought my 06 instead of waiting for this to happen.

but why would the owner buy the cars himself... what difference does it make if he over-charges off the showroom floor or out of his garage? I would think the car is worth more off the show-room floor.
