way to force EVAP and CAT test/drive cycle?

a buddy just rebuilt a 08 gt500, did a beautiful job on it, the car is perfect.
trying to pass emissions, the darn thing wont do the evap (he read must complete EVAP test before it will run the catalyst tests).
wondered if anyone in here has had a similar issue maybe after a reflash or something...as far as he knows its on the stock tune, had a bunch of codes from wiring damage, he fixed everything, all sensors appear to be normal on the code scanner, but it wont complete the evaporative emissions test cycle on its own... he said he read the 'drive cycle requirements' and tried achieving all that several times, but a couple tanks of gas later, it still hasnt ran the tests yet...

just wondered if theres one of those turn the key off/on X amount of times, tap the brake, beep the horn things like for setting up keys, fobs, tpms, etc...

thanks in advance for any insight!
Tim

I know this is a very old post, but did your buddy ever get that EVAP test completed? I am having an issue getting mine to run also. Every other monitor has completed but the EVAP test and it is getting frustrating.

You're gonna have to just get in it from cold and just go drive. Get on the freeway as soon as you can and put a good 20 miles on her.

20 miles? That's two weeks worth of driving for some folks here

Geez I couldn't imagine. That's my drive to work exactly. That's the only reason I know it will work. I start up cold. Couple miles and couple red lights. Then about 10-15 miles of straight highway with no stops. Stop and go city driving, probably will never run the evap test.

Yeah, my round trip to work and home is 22 miles. Plus I go to lunch, and the gym, so I do 30-40 miles a day just doing my normal routine.
