This was posted over on SVTPerformance. I'm doubting this but I figured I would post here as well for a heads up to our readers.

I don't see them going to all the trouble of bringing out the GT500...and bring GT's to Canada...and talk about other SE models (supposedly built by SVT), etc, etc, etc...only to turn around and axe SVT. And didn't HTT say that SVT would not be affected by any cuts?

I think we're safe and that guy's source is full of you know what.

If my memory serves me right, Team Mustang, with close assistance form SVT, was responsible for the design, development, and production of the Spring Edition, Bullitt, Mach 1, and the Anniversary editions. I believe Team Mustang has been disolved which leaves only SVT as the group responsible for all of Ford's high performance vehicles.

I would think it is highly unlikely Ford would disband SVT unless there are plans to eliminate high performance vehicles from the lineups which it's also unlikely.

I thought the same thing. Just linking it here to see what others said...

Stirring the pot, so to speak.

Post #11 in your link is worrisome

I have some sources too, and my sources tell me that Ford has cancelled all projects that Roush was working on. The Shelby was pretty much finished from an engineering perspective but everything else got canned at the end of 05.
Roush was the one working on a new Mach 1. Hope this is a bunch of false info.

Replace "sources" with "rumors" and the story will have a different ending.

Rumors about the demise of SVT have been floating around the 'net for about a year now. I seriously doubt it's true.

So let it be said! So let it be done!

Thanks Pharoah!

As far as the Mach 1 goes I can't remember where but it was report to being worked on by Roush. I do believe it was factual info from this site. So I trust it!

It will most likely be the next SE. Save your pennies.

If anything we'll start to see SVT versions of other Ford/Mercury/Lincoln models much like Chrysler. I'd like to see a SVT Fusion sometime in the next two years.

You guys better re-evaluate your SVT expectations; there will not be the near the number of production vehicles being built as current SVT prototypes we have heard about on this site.

I agree, we need to do a reality check.

We tend to get carried away here on TMS. Bullitt, Mach 1, Boss, GT-350, etc. etc., our collective dream machine quickly gets out of control.

Reality is that Mustang sales are not that great, at a run rate of 130,000 / year over the last 6 months. On top of that Ford N. America is in the toilet right now.

To make a "real SE" (like the 03/04 Mach 1) pay for itself, development cost, certification & testing cost, marketing cost and production cost, Ford most likely needs to sell a minimum 20,000 of them over a 2 year period.

With Mustang GT sales running about 60,000 / year right now, there is no way in the world the Mustang can support more than 2 SEs during any given model year.

Throwing out the CS as just a tape and plastic faux SE and considering that the GT-500 will be in production for the 2007 & 2008 MYs there is barely room for 1 more real SE - Boss, Mach 1, GT-350, Bullitt type - during the current Mustang's production run (2005 - 2008).

And don't forget that given production and certification lead times, anything Ford is doing for the 2008 MY will be locked in within the next few months.

So, guys and gals, take your pick.
Assuming there will be one and only one more SE before 2009, what would you want for an SE?
If O5StangKC's parts book is correct, we already know what engine that one and only one more SE will get... 4.6L, 4V.

PS. I'm willing to wager that the 2009 MY update slips to 2010.

SVTOA, SVT FORM NEW ALLIANCE

SVTOA Rekindles Ties to SVT and Ford Racing

Happy New Year!

Effective January 1, 2006, operation of the Ford Special Vehicle Team Owners Association has been transferred to the Ford SVT Marketing team, under the direction of the Ford Racing Technology group. What this means is that, as the new roles and responsibilities of the Ford Special Vehicle Team are identified and defined in the coming months, the SVTOA will become more closely aligned with Ford SVT, Ford Racing and Ford Racing Performance Parts.

SVT actually conceived, founded and launched the SVTOA more than six years ago, and is excited about the opportunity to be again working hand-in-hand with one of its most loyal owner groups. While Ford Racing and SVT work to establish their new missions among Ford performance enthusiasts, they'll be watching the SVTOA Message Board to read your input on how you think the SVTOA can be improved to build a more viable relationship between Ford Motor Company and its most valuable customers.

Stay tuned to www.svtoa.com, as well as www.svt.ford.com and www.fordracingparts.com, for news and information on this exciting new era for Ford performance as we draw closer to the introduction of the 2007 Ford Shelby GT500.

Any type of service or warranty related questions and/or inquiries should be directed to your local SVT-certified Ford dealer. In the event that you do not know who your local SVT-certified Ford dealer is, you can conduct a location search for a dealer in your area at www.svt.ford.com.
