Should i order ??

Just got back from the dealer and was quoted $5k over invoice for a '08 GT-500 coupe. It works out to be around $1200 over MSRP. I don't think i can get it any lower.

Haven't been following the boards and was wondering if this was reasonable.

Jump on it!!! If you take a pass, let me know where they're at and I may just have to upgrade from my '07 Vert. Still $15K over in this area.

Absolutely! You'd be getting your hands on the best Mustang ever. And fully modded.

That's better than any one around here has gotten.
That was 5K over MSRP.

Get it in writing too, when you place the order.

If the dealer lets you spec it the way you want, I'd suggest you accept the offer.

If you try and wait for an MSRP deal, you might not be able to order it the way you want and/or be buying a car that sat on a showroom for awhile with people getting in and out of it all the time.

My Dealer had three GT500's on Friday, 20K ADM on each. They had sold one that on been on the showroom floor for a couple of months......

I'd say 5K ADM isn't bad. You could probably drive it to Texas and sell it for 15K profit. Or sell it on Ebay!

Don't they say everything is bigger in Texas? Including GT500 prices.

if they are only asking 1200 over...say "make it at MSRP and I'm in." 1200 in the scheme of 45K isnt that much..I dont think theyll argue with you. but whatever you do...dont pass. take the best deal possible on this car.

Thanks for the replies. I'm torn between getting this or waiting to see if they come out with a Boss or a Shelby GT-350. I would love to get a special edition 'stang with a 5.4 n/a engine.
If i opt for the GT-500, i'm cutting it close as far as funds. It looks like a big nut to crack. Really wish we knew what we were getting for the '09 model year.

Question: Are they going to carry the GT-500 in '09?

That's a very good price for a FANTASTIC car..There is no hard info regarding an 09 Shelby....It seems likely that FOMOCO will offer some ultra hi po version possibly badged as a Cobra or another moniker.

Did they say when they would order it for you and when there allocation is due to come up for build, and how long before they would see it on their lot.. Sounds like a Good Deal to me. IMO

9/10/07 **Update**

Well, went down to the dealer today and placed my order. There is a catch though....
In order to get the GT-500, i must sell my project car which is a '65 Cobra Daytona Coupe. I can't afford both so decision time for me. If i opt out of the GT-500, no problem said the dealer.

If it was meant to be, the Coupe will sell.....if not, then i'll be building the Coupe and fulfilling my "other" dream.

I guess destiny takes over from here. Either way, i'm going to have a nice car when all is said and done.
