This as well as other dealer sympathic and promotional topics should be at the Ford Salesmen forum where they would receive their due attention. That's right. I, as other TMS members, will not pay too much attention to such insignificant forum. We have to keep in mind the limited financial resources and sacrifice which would be required in order to be able to buy a GT500.

Trust me, the Ford dealers and their salemen do not need any additional help or exposure.

I got the call Last week to pick options. My price was locked in at sticker + Not at all sure I want to complete the deal as I like my Auto so I can do other things while driving. A cell phone is not one of them. If I resell it I still have to pay sales tax and he will to so the state may be the only one making out. 7.5%x45000.00 X 2 is a good deal for the state.$6750.00 and they have not done s--t to earn it.

Lets see so a mid $40k car just became a mid $60k car because of a bunch of guys who probably won't barely drive it. Which is the only way to really enjoy a car. Again how is this car worth $60k+? I really love Mustangs but I'd jump to a Z06 for that kind of money. It pains me to say it but it's the better car in that price range.

In 6 months, you would be an absolute fool to pay over MSRP. In a year(with high gas prices) you'll get a rebate. Just watch. They plan on building 18,000....not 1800.

I have stopped trying to preach this. All I get is argument that "this car is different." Like you said, it will come down to normal. Just like every other hot car does.

The message has gotten across. It took a while though.
Sometimes it just takes time for cool heads to prevail and overcome anticipation and impulse.

"... what we had here, was failure... to co-mmu-neeeeeeeeee-cate". Or a bunch or horny stray muts looking for the beach in heat. Take your pick.

Bullitt and Crazyhorse....let's watch these a few of these folks soil themselves for a few months, then we can walk into a dealer and buy what we want on our terrms. I've wanted a GT500 KR for 37 years, 2008 may be my time.

A GT/CS with the FRPP Whipple twin screw kit(warrantied) will make the same power as a GT500 and weigh 350 lbs less....Hmmm.
Always liked that Q-ship/sleeper idea.

Another choice would be next years GT500 with the FRPP twin screw for less money than these dorks are paying this summer on ebay.

Is it possible for there to be a production car at a dealership yet? I am being told there is a Shelby GT500 in the showroom at a dealership in Gaffney SC. It supposedly got there yesterday. I thought production didn't start until Monday of this week??

edit: I did a little researching on my own and this is supposedly a VIP car and it really is there.
I'm going to check it out this weekend.

A pilot run of around 50 GT-500s were built back in February. These are the GT-500s that were loaned to the car rags for testing. I'm willing to bet that these cars have been taken back from the press and are now out on tour showing up at various car shows and Ford dealers right now.

Got a call from a dealer, #6 on the list, wanted to know if I was still wanting the GT 500, $25,000.00 over MSRP, told him "NO" and I guess the first five on the list also gave him the same answer.
The dealer I`m #1 on the list told me on Monday they got a flyer from a dealer back east looking to sell their GT 500 in CA, asking price, ready for this, $45,000.00 above MSRP, this to CA dealers.

It could still be a pilot run car. If they met all manufacturing, safety & emissions requirements Ford can sell them.

When you go over there open the driver's door and look for the date on the blue DOT sticker. Let us know what it says.

Glad to hear that there are at least 6 people in this country with some common sense. I have the feeling that a lot of people on those big waiting lists are going to pass on paying $20K+ AMVs.
