is this rumor true?

A local guy was telling the me the gt500 rods had a limit of about 600rwhp. Is this true?

no way they are going to put rods in it that are good for only 100 more hp than stock - especially after the whole Manley rod issue that made the Terminators so d**n good......

He might not be too far from the truth. He was probably associating his opinion in relation to a conservative and safe tune.

It's the not the power it's the RPM where they fall short.

The Factory rates them at 650 and a maximum rpm of 6250. Keeping the rpm at just below this level all times and a timing at 23 degrees, there has been no issues encountered thus far in KB testing up to 960 at the flywheel. That makes about 720 at the wheels after many hot runs consecutively. Albeit after nearly 300 real time logged and tested dyno runs, it has yet to hit the streets operating at that power level and show no deformations after a course of time. The KB Stg III Evo Edition SetUp making aprox. 720 at the wheels and 620 tq. There are a few of these running around for weeks now and no reported issues, other than tires, driveshafts and stress on the rear axles.
