Man this site has a deal on a 4.6L 3V.. You all know I love my V6, but boy that sure is tempting..

$50,000 over huh? Well, that would make it about $92,000. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

 

ADM, aka "Sucker Tax". Lots of reasons from your friendly neighborhood car dealer as to why they are trying to sell for 60 or 70 grand. They will use the same logic in reverrse to explain why they can't give you 30 on a trade for the same car in 18 months.

 

That reminds me of what happened to me when I went out to buy my mustang. November 2004 Burch Ford in Brea California has two mustangs on the lot. Black, V6 Premium, Auto with Exterior sport pack and Shaker 500.

I want to test drive them, but the manager says no way I want to keep low miles on them unless you are going to buy them or buy a car from us, then no test drive.

I just laugh everytime I think about how rude there dealership was to me.

So I drove over the hill to Puente Hills and test drove one of their 6 mustangs and ordered my car from them instead.

Stupid dealers. $50k over. Some moron will pay it too I am sure. And like you said try and trade it in down the line and it will be worth 30k.

25k and you can build a hotter, faster GT then the GT500.

 

Kind of funny that the initial reaction from a number of folks is that there are too many idiots in California with too much money. That could be, but I'm not sure what it has to do with a dealer asking for $50k over MSRP. This whole GT500 issue is so emotional that I think many have disengaged their brains when looking at these issues.

The fact is a dealer is asking a ton of money...an amount that is way over market. He might get it, he might not. But $50k over is a reflection of nothing but the dealer's hope. Most likely, the dealer knows his price is way high, but he's willing to risk a month or two of flooring cost on the off chance someone will pay it. If no one does, he'll start stepping down in price until he finds a willing buyer. Same as it ever was.
