MPG on a 1,100 mile trip
350 miles, mostly on highway: 19.7 mpg
400 miles on city driving: 13.1 mpg
345 miles all on highway: 20.5 mpg.
Pretty good, huh? On the highway there were even a few spurts of slightly excessive high RPM fun. I guess one can say it is broken in now and ready to party.
And no tickets!

Well i was saying his is over double so the focus is not even half the fun..
The EPA needs to adjust the rating for fun factor.
This car gets 10mpg but the fun factor is like a 12 outta 10 which means it is well worth getting 10mpg.
But a car that gets 30mpg would be rated like 3 outta 10 and the combined rating would be worse then the 10mpg car.

Hey George,
What is going on with your cars?
Have you done any mods to either? Do you plan to?
All I have done is Corsa axle backs (Love 'em) and I manufactured a Hurst Shifter (Steeda triax and Hurst stick/ball).
A friend of mine is giving me a JLT CAI and a 2.6 pulley. All I would need is a Tuner/Tune. I'm just not sure I want to change anything. This car is pretty special as is.

The red is getting the FRs. I like and enjoy both the same, the options are identical, but as you know white is hard to keep clean so I drive it when the weather is nice.

So are blondes.
And you, sir, now have both a blonde AND a brunette.
Lucky dog.
Back to the mileage thing again, I am averaging 14.7 MPG in my GT, but that is basically ALL stop-start city driving...so you ain't doin' bad at all.

21.5 in my GT, got it upto 28 mpg (same route that I normally get 21-22 mpg on) by doing the following (dunno about S/C'd cars - but I know they could pull a 3rd gear start no problem if my GT can)
Start in 3rd - sounds crazy, but you achieve a coupla things by doing so; a. no pumping losses in the motor as it accelerates, b. maxium dynamic compression since there is no restriction in the intake tract (other than the charge motion plates) then keep and eye on that handy MPG meter Ford has. (both of those contribute to increased economy - its part of why a desiel engine is more efficent).
I didn't really have to slip the clutch to get the car going (mine has 3.55's) then at about 1500-1800 rpm I would shift into 5th to keep the throttle open until I reached my cruising speed.
Also no AC, and windows rolled up with as little electrical load on the car as possible.
It was slow going - lol, funny when even old folks pass you because your creeping up in speed - but it did prove useful in boosting my mileage, I got about a 25 to 29 mile ride to work and I was running late on an empty tank so I decided to take a chance and ride it out and figured my best chance was to maximize my fuel economy so I wouldn't be a squishy target on the side of the highway on the off chance I ran out of gas.

If I had to drive that way I wouldn't drive a GT or and "sports car" for that matter. I try and save gas but mix in normal driving. I can do oh, like... 19-20mpg. Just shifting under or at 2k and taking it to over 3k to enjoy the car.
