K&N For GT500

Hello everyone.
I was wondering if anyone Has Purchased the new K&N air charger kit for the 500.They claim it adds 53.71 HP but to me that sounds a little hard to believe. Any info would be appreciated.

It may seem hard to beleive, but remember, ,even though a K&N only nets about 15hp on older mustang GTs, it gets around 30 on new ones, as well as 03-04 cobras.

Considering the GT500 is a large displacement forced induction motor. It's not that unreasonable for really small mods to get previously unheard of gains

Most experts say, do not do a CAI without a tune. I have had a JLT CAI sitting on my workbench for about 2 months. I have not put it in because I need to buy a tune/SCT first. Not gonna risk detonation on mine.

I had a K&N filter and exhaust on a GT without a tune. It made a difference and had no pinging.

I remember a post on something going terribly wrong on a GT500 with the K&N without a tune, and have wondered if that was a fluke result or typical of K&Ns. They still advertise the 50+hp gains. I plan on leaving mine stock, since the chance of it ever seeing a dragstrip is nil.

More like 40hp as the conservative tune being used on the GT500KR.

60-90 is a pretty big range for it to be "consistent"

Whats the average?

Not really. All cars are differant and your talking about a car in the 415-455 RWHP stock. We have dynoed about 20 GT500's and average is 445, but we have seen as low as 390's - 455 on the same dyno. That will effect the gains of a part.
Not every GT500 will dyno the same, so the average will be: 60+90= 150 devided by 2 = 75 RWHP.

Consistant means over and over again.
40 is not worth it.
Ford will only keep your warranty is you have FORD install it and you don't have any other mods.
Ford's Pro-cal is also none adjustable

Below is a few of our before and afters.
Last is a K&N installed on a GT500.
We couldn't make a full pull as it was so dangerously lean.
Becareful running a K&N on the GT500 without a tune.

Hope this helps.
Jay
