The guy is selling his "right" to purchase a 2008 GT500. The bidding starts at 2K. How is this any different than paying a dealer mark up? Also, only 6 feedback. Good grief!

This is not at all uncommon for a limited or high ADM car. It's basically selling your place in line with a pre-negotiated price. I see it all the time in the BMW world when something hot is coming to market - M3, M5, M6. That's actually a decent deal at $5k over MSRP if it's legit. Wouldn't be too tough to check out. He should have supporting docs. I agree he's a year too late.

Unstable economy? Because Wall Street had a couple of bad days? That's a bit fishy.
The dealer, agreement, vin #, production date, and ETA would need to be confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt.

What a great scam! The guy (assuming he really bought the car) orders a car, fronts a bit of cash for a deposit, then sells out for $5k at a total net cost to him of NOTHING for a car he never intended to buy.
Sweet.
Too bad no one fell for his BS...

Looks like it sold right away.

Nope. I reported it and it was removed for a listing violation. You can't solicit communication via direct email within a listing. It's been going on as long as ebay has been around. The "seller" is often a scammer who has hijacked a legitimate account with good feedback and lists a whole bunch of high dollar merchandise. They then offer a crazy low buy it now prices but require you complete the transaction outside of ebay. This way they can get some communication going with some unsuspecting folks that never notice ebay cancelled the listing. Once folks realize they've been had there's no way to trace back who they were dealing with. It's not too common for them to try cars. That's a bit harder to pull off since they usually don't know much about what they're listing. Oh, and 99% of them are in Romania based in internet cafes. They're known as Vlads.
