Not like the crazy folks where I get my Mustang serviced. They have an alloy Grey '07 GT500 in the showroom for $20k over sticker. THey of course approach me whenever I am there. I of course laugh. They say they can't remove the adjustment even for George Bush (why they think he would want the car, I don't know). I tell them how nice it will look sitting there right up until the time they DX it to another dealership.

I can do a lot to my own Mustang for $20k. Good grief.

Campbell Ford in Ottawa sold the FIRST one at MSRP and the SECOND one about $2000K (CAN) over. I believe this is the first one sold in Canada.

The guy who got the first one was a longtime fleet buyer for his business, and basically told 'em if they overcharged him, they could suck a fat one on any future truck purchases.

Just what I heard...

Last summer, my local Ford dealer sold their GT500 between $2000-$4000 over. The guy who bought it, is very rich, and is a loyal customer, so they gave him a deal.

My buddy bought his GT500 for $12,000 over last Spring.

I keep calling my dealership owner and general sales manager at least twice a week - I am hoping that he will eventually figure out that if he relents to selling to me at MSRP, it will actually save him money by allowing him to be more productive at work. Hey, it's a plan.

The bad news is he found a 15k over buyer for a another dealer this past weekend. Geez.

OK guys, I guess it makes no difference now and a deal for another car didn't materialized, so here it goes. $52,560 plus applicable fees for taxes, tag, and title. Got $24K for the GT which I paid $26.5K. Had they done their homework I would have gotten a lot less. Had circumstances been different I would have volunteered facts which would have determined the appropriate value of the trade in. Use your imagination on what a major factor is for a new car to depreciate in value and demand. In essence, their price was inflated and so was mine. Tic for tac.

The question is why didn't I wait. Betrayed and no longer having the hand shake deal I thought I had with the local dealer, the introduction of rebates for Mustang GT, and the additional depreciation of my car a few months down the line. If I would have waited eight or nine months I estimated $18K would have been the average trade in value providing no other factors came to light. Without any price increase on the GT500 and getting it for MSRP, the difference that I paid now is probably $1,500 to $2,000 more than if I had waited. Also, the car I bought was perfect in every way with the exception of the cowl covers which one overlapped the other instead of meeting evenly and both were replaced.

Another reason was the rumor of the removal of SVT badging on future editions, that was an important issue for me. A couple other personal fears I need not discuss since it would not benefit those who are still waiting.
Given the releationship with the dealer and the higher ups who were willing to support my early GT500 production acquisition, future depreciation on the trade in and a low serial number w/ build in may of 06, i found myself in a similar situation.

Whilst i was looking for a good serialized legendary show car, time was ticking on me and my previous car was at the height of it's value;- and with a KBB value Buyer at immediate hand, it became time. So, in the end, after a full warrenty upgrade and the additional security features (it is staying iconic, no Power mods that cannot be reversed), Angel went for less than 60K. The Buyer of the trade in, left the shop at the same time with his new acquisition and in doing a double deal, we each saved some dealer fees as well.

In retrospect, she is worth every penny. The desision was based on many factors that are worth it to me for now and into the future. The first run off of a car and the low serial will remain despite the passage of time and the monetary depreciation of the vehicle.

I bought mine for MSRP but only because the dealer is one of my clients. There is also a dealer in San Diego, Drew Ford, who has a policy NOT to sell any cars for over MSRP. All of their Cobra's sold at sticker to very happy people. My advice if you are serious about buying one and the ADM's are killing you is to just wait for the 08's to come out and live bicariously through the current owners on the various sites. Here are your benefits: More supply = lower prices, by waiting you are giving the aftermarket a chance to catch up to the car=more parts/lower prices, you will get a chance to find out what these cars can really handle and you can properly strategize your upgrades(many of us are still waiting for one of these engines to POP), you may be able to swoop up on a used one for a good deal. You might have to do some research to find a dealer who will work with you. If research isn't your strength then go find an internet savy teenager and tell him/her that if they can find you a dealer willing to sell their GT500 for MSRP that you'll give them $$$, and don't be cheap!

Oh yeah, prices on ebay are going down vs. 5mos ago. and several dealers are still holding on to their Cobra's because of their high ADM's. They will have to fold before you will its just at matter of what $ figure. Lay seige to their dealership and keep following up on if the car has sold or the price has been lowered. I'm sure a few people who read this will try it and end up being happy GT500 owners

Do the various lenders finance the ADM? I'm wondering if the lending limit on a vehicle is it's MSRP.

I'm waiting on my dealer to give me the green light on an '08 at MSRP or below.

I just turned down a Vista Blue/White Stripes this week here in British Columbia. In Canada, a coupe with the Shaker 1000, MSRP's for about $56,500 Cdn. I got called from a dealer who had a collapsed sale. The VB GT500 could be mine for just $79,000!! After I paid the miriad of taxes that we have up here, plus licence and insurance, this would be close to a $95,000 car in my garage. I said 'no thanks.' I'm sure he easily sold the car to someone else on his list, but I refuse to be part of this kind of price gouging. I'm also on the list at a dealer who sells at MSRP. I'll probably still be waiting this time next year (or the next), but enough is enough.

Mucho De Niro! ....That is a lot of money. I would not want to pay that either. Never realized Canada was so expensive on cars and here i thought near 70k Out The Door was a lot. If you are in good with your Dealer, and don't mind some low miles and later Serial No., ask them to try for an aftermarket one, IMO.
