Has ANYONE bought a GT500 for MSRP?
Has ANYONE bought a GT500 for MSRP?
OK Im just wondering, even though I could never aforrd one anyway. To all you present GT 500 owners out there, has any one been able to buy one without all kinds of dealer price gouging mark up ??
Another question , how many GT500 owners do we have on the source forums anyways?

I was at my dealer the other day and they had a white convertable in the showroom that was sold.....they said they didn't mark it up....but I have no confirmation of that either.
There have been a few folks who did this...not easy unless you use your phone alot...and I mean alot. On the bright side, this is a confirmed 3 year contract between Shelby & Ford. So I would say that patience is a virtue for sure...
Take it from me....
....I'm perfectly normal
after waiting for over 2 years...

To answer runfox, Yes. Several people have. They either got in early and got a contract before the ADMs went nuts, know the dealer, or got in with a dealer that had decided to sell them all at MSRP. I have found 2 such dealers. I actually found them over a year ago and got on their "list" I got bumped down because of VIP customers. They both assure me that I will get the 2nd alloted car at one dealer and the 3rd at another for 2008. I now have it in writing and a deposit at both dealers. They have both cashed the check.
It would be near impossible to find an MSRP deal for a car NOW. If you look hard enought you might find a deal for a 2008 allocation. Most of the MSRP or low ADM deals for 07s were placed near a year ago before the market became well known. Even the smaller dealers know the value now. The few that did not, likely did not pay the licence fee and have no allocation to sell. It's too late now.
So nothing has really chaged. Those willing to wait have or will get better deals. Those that want more imeadiate gratification will pay for the priviledge. Nothing wrong with that if you can afford it. Just need to understand what you are paying for and it aint the car itself.......

Example 1 with a trade:
Dealer A offers you MSRP and 20k for your trade.
Dealer B offers you MSRP +5k ADM and 27k for your trade.
The first deal is technically for MSRP, but is the worse deal.
Example 2 without a trade:
Dealer A offers MSRP, but has 2k documentation and misc. fees
Dealer B offers MSRP +1K ADM but only $100 in doc fees, etc.
The first deal is technically for MSRP, but is the worse deal.
The absolute bottom line on a cash only deal is what is most important when comparing deals. Anything else thrown in starts to "cloud" the real cost and begins to make comparisons difficult.
Just my $.02
edit: don't try saying you'll sell your trade to dealer B and buy from Dealer A. It doesn't work that way...

OK guys, I guess it makes no difference now and a deal for another car didn't materialized, so here it goes. $52,560 plus applicable fees for taxes, tag, and title. Got $24K for the GT which I paid $26.5K. Had they done their homework I would have gotten a lot less. Had circumstances been different I would have volunteered facts which would have determined the appropriate value of the trade in. Use your imagination on what a major factor is for a new car to depreciate in value and demand. In essence, their price was inflated and so was mine. Tic for tac.
The question is why didn't I wait. Betrayed and no longer having the hand shake deal I thought I had with the local dealer, the introduction of rebates for Mustang GT, and the additional depreciation of my car a few months down the line. If I would have waited eight or nine months I estimated $18K would have been the average trade in value providing no other factors came to light. Without any price increase on the GT500 and getting it for MSRP, the difference that I paid now is probably $1,500 to $2,000 more than if I had waited. Also, the car I bought was perfect in every way with the exception of the cowl covers which one overlapped the other instead of meeting evenly and both were replaced.
Another reason was the rumor of the removal of SVT badging on future editions, that was an important issue for me. A couple other personal fears I need not discuss since it would not benefit those who are still waiting.
I hereby admit the emergency surgery was a success and I no longer have a need for the inflatable toilet seat. My virginity has been restored.
