Add the Japanese Shinkansen and the A-380 Airbus to the list.

Most Rental Cars in the US are Automatic. Rental cars in an Automatic, IMO, is best since about half of the population do not drive manual. Then, anyone can rent them and enjoy them.

If you have the car stopped and in first gear on flat ground, you can just slowly let the clutch out and the car will start inching forward, just like an automatic with the brakes off. From there you can learn when to give it gas to go quicker.

After a week or two of driving around with a stick, it becomes pretty natural. You will stall it from time to time, but thats no big deal. Nothing to be intimidated about, and once you learn, you will see how much more control you have over the car.
+1 .... soooo much more control over the engine.....no other way to have this car....and I suspect, Ford doesn't offer a suitable auto tranny that's strong enough to handle the added hp and torque....

Good point and I believe Hurst does that to keep the abuse levels at an acceptable level.

i can't drive stick either, but if i were planning on getting a gt500 i would definitely take the time to learn.

i think a car that only comes in stick means something. and having an auto version would kinda of miss the point...
Most feel that way but why exclude some buyers... If it is because the auto trans they make can't handle it then that I can understand...

I hear the Challenger is coming out with a stick first but they plan to put an auto in it... The Vette can be auto...
