First Damaged Shelby

Not only is this the first Shelby in SD (that I know about) but it also may be the first one to be damaged. It arrived at Pearson Ford in San Diego yesterday. Its still for sell; not spoken for yet.

As posted by an employee on another forum... " 'Alloy Clearcoat Metallic' ............kind of a charcoal grey with silver stripes over the top and silver 'GT500" stripe down the side

Damaged right off the truck..........ham-fisted truck driver gouged the front spoiler almost tore it off...........'

asking 30K over sticker.

All in in-transit damage will be repaired before a car is delivered....paid for by the transport company. Accidents do happen-even to ham-fisted transport drivers. Or should I say especially!!!

You didn't actually think otherwise, did you?

Also-I DO NOT agree with the dealer markup that is applied to these cars-I am just a humble Service Consultant.

This happened to my 2000GT..had a 7 inch long scratch on the roof right down to the metal on delivery. MY sales guy saw the driver do it.. he said some part of the truck was dangling down and the drive just didn't care and drove the car off and ruined the roof. My car was in the body shop a day after i got it..
I was POed bigitme but they gave me a loaner for free and you can't even tell it had happened now so in the end it was ok.

Accidents are what happens to someone else's car! Painting on a brand new car ($30,000 mark-up, no less) is unacceptable. Bigtime!

sadly no, here it will sell and probably quickly once they fix it. The dealership in Encinitas started out taking orders for them at a 100% markup and people were ordering them. Stupid rich people. I think this was one of the few places that people were paying the 250-300K for the Ford GT, in fact I know one moron who paid 250K for his less than a month ago....wtf???

the only piece thats actually damaged is the extra chin spoiler, the rest is reflections of that damage in the shiny finish of the paint. so no painting will need to be done, just replace the plastic piece.

The Car still looks good to me. That incidental damage won't show up at all after the minor repair. Glad they are finally here, its been a LONG wait.

Oh, you're right! That is a reflection. Put another piece of black on that one and go. I hate to see brand new cars needing paint work so early in their life. Glad that isn't the case here.

I would not be absolutely sure about that. Any part which is forced and damaged usually alters whatever it's attached to, unless it was Sylvester that scratched it.

Meeeeeeeeeaoooo... Suffering succotash!!!

I bought my GT from pearson ford, I'm not suprised they are asking $30k over MSRP. Encinitas Ford is owned and operated by a very honest family, I'm very suprised at how they handle the mark up on some of the 'hot new vehicles', hopefully they learn their mistake, it's too bad guys in Rancho Santa Fe paid the 100k markup on the Ford GT.

So lemmie get this straight: those bonus 'designs' on the car's front spoiler are a $30K "dealer installed option"?

Can everyone order that feature?

Umm...I was being sarcastic about the damage. Yes, I am very aware of how vehicles get damaged in transportation...lived overseas twice and had my car shipped both times.

I was referring more to the "slight" increase in price.

Question is... once the rich dumb people buy that markup,
how many will be sitting on the lots.

Are there going to be THAT many stupid rich people to buy that many?
or will they skip this, and buy some more Ferrari's and Lambo's.

I can't wait to see these things sit on lots... and eventually they will...
I'm pretty sure some dealers know it too... they are just attempting to get that money... if ti works...great. more money to them...
...if it doesn't, no biggie, they'll drop it to its 'regular price'

Amen to that! I strongly believe that most dealers realize the hype won't last forever and they're going to milk every $$$ out of the current hype because they know the price will come down sooner than later. That certainly won't stop them from trying to create the illusion of short supply through next year though.

well here in SD I know of 3 dealerships that have all of their allocated Shelbies spoken for, and I know that Mossy in PB and Ken Grody in Carlsbad both have lists of over 40 people that are waiting to get one that are serious about it and they knew about a 20K markup at both dealerships when they signed up on that list or placed their order. So I dont think there will be any of the first wave sitting on the lots at all.
