[EBAY] Help me convince/harass local dealer
To sell me his GT500 for MSRP!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220126316732
Just submit an offer with the "Make Offer" button, for sticker $43,765.
I offered sticker, he came back with $1500 off mark-up. Generous, consider there is $1500 cash back from Ford!
I'd actually never shop with this dealer for anything else. Every salesman I've dealt with has his head up his ars. It probably won't work, but it'll annoy him for sure, and that's worth it in my opinion!

Whatever dude. If its too much for you its not his problem, just find a dealer that will sell one for MSRP, piece o' cake. You also need to realize that for professional salespeople, GT500 sales are few and far between for one to think too much about them, they've got many 'normal' sales to make so the electricity stays on at home. A lot of the ADM is the manager's money-and they often flat-pay the salesperson, sometimes as low as $500 for a GT40 at 30K over. I can make $500 on a 1997 Camry on ebay that sells for $3300, and make next to nothing on a $49k Expy that sells at invoice with follow up calls, full survey scores, etc. 20 salespeople-average 150 per year each, 7 GT500s come in per year-yes its SO worth spending all your time trying to sell one....
Yes its worth studying EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of them so when a one-car expert comes in you can answer every rhetorical question they ask. I know a lot about them because I just do. But it's never made me one single extra dollar. I know that sounds crappy but a lot of long term salespeople that are trying to make a living often see a GT500 come in the showroom washed and think 'oh crap, not another one of those near my desk'...If you're lucky enough to answer the right call and the guy shows up with a check in half an hour is one thing, but other then that, you don't exactly go out of your way to study up on it with 15 phone calls to make before lunch when you're trying to get a bonus for most Explorers sold that month.
And I never try to sell cars here, to me its a break from work just like any schmo in a cubicle somewhere. If someone wants help-no problem I can answer just about anything, but I've never thought of it as an opportunity posting here. So my answers to stuff like this is always in salesman-off mode. Sales is a tough business with a 90% failure rate, I've seen many a retired airline pilots, military officers, ex business owners and the like crack trying to do it.

Yeah, I did have a dealer, a good friend of mine from high school actually, that called me when he got a GT500 in. He said this one is sold, but I knew you'd want to see it. Great, I go look at it, fall in love, etc...2 days later, he calls again, original buyer backed out...I could buy the '07 with 15K mark-up or order an '08 at sticker. I said I'd pass for now. Then I went back once I read about '08 colors and options to order mine, and I get this "Oh, well, we can't really do that, we're only getting so many and blah blah blah."
not that it will help you get the car at msrp from that one dealer, however it may give you some hope of finding one at msrp ... ford is offering 0% financing on the gt500s', which hopefully means that they are not moving as well at the dealer markups. Patience may be a virtue here especially with the ss and kr coming out.
Try finding the email addy of the sales people from your surrounding dealerships, and once a month email inquiring about buying a gt500 for 1000 over invoice. when they respond saying they all have a 15000 markup simply reply 'no thanks'. do this the middle (? I think its the middle of them month, when the dealers are itching to get the old stock off their lot to make room for the new cars coming in at the end of the month) of the month and make sure you keep all the dealer emal addys in the 'to' line or the 'cc' line so they know you are dealing with more than just them.
