Differences in an 07 & 08 Shelby GT500?????

Differences in an 07 & 08 Shelby GT500?????

Hey guys, I may have an opportunity to pick up an 07 GT500 for a very reasonable price. What are the major changes they made for 08 besides HID's and ambient lighting? Are their any performance differences? Thanks guys.

No other major difference. the '08 has a different Harmonic balancer.

Some 2007 owners have reported clutch chatter that was fixed with the 2008s.
However, in the long run the 2007s may be worth a little more because of their first year status.

THE major difference for '08 is the optional $375 car cover! It comes with an attached storage bag too!!

There was also an update to the transmission part way into the '08 build.

Clutch chatter was not fixed for 08 I still have it.

It was available in 07 too. The cover was in the Ford Accessories catalog rather than on the new vehicle order sheet. Dealer item, but was offered to 07 buyers along with a few other upgrades.

Its still available through Ford Accessories and is considerably cheaper to buy that way since most GT500s are not discounted below MSRP. The cover is right at $300.

Clutch chatter is driving style, not a defect with a ceramic clutch. You need seat time with the car. What was changed was the input shaft on the tranny to eliminate some corrosion that occurs on some GT500s that are not driven regularly caused the clutch to not release fully causing difficult or impossible shifting.
