I own both now, and the wife gets the vert. I prefer the coupe. Always have, always will. I drive both, but open top cruising is just that, cruising. I feel like the coupe is more stable especially when you see the windshield dance on the vert under heavy cornering. Yes, there's a support brace underneath, but adding a bar to the underside doesn't constitute a whole roof on top. Like a strut tower brace, rigidity is all about "box" sections and how much of a box do you have if the c-pillar is not there?

Yes, the vert is a blast, gets looks, and overall is a great car. I wouldn't use that one at Road America as I feel it will not sustain factory solid feel after tracking the car.

To me the vert is kinda like the sunroof, adds another dimension to the experience, but isn't a "true" musclecar.

I'm an opinionated person, so this is just that...my opinion. Had my wife typed and entry it would be the exact opposite.

Had both and now have a vert. I really enjoyed the coupe but after giving up riding a motorcycle I really enjoy the vert more. If I was tracking the car I would prefer the coupe. Since I mostly do car shows, parades, and cruise ins, I enjoy the vert.

I normally don't buy a ragtop, since I've always felt that the lack of body structure and extra weight hindered performance. But I spent the extra bucks on my Shelby convert because 1) converts are rarer and 2) I plan on keeping this car forever, so it's more of a cruiser than a hard-core performance car. It won't see track duty. I have my '07 GT for that.
