The AutoTrader ads includes the invoice and MSRP prices on new cars. Call and the $20K over is usually mentioned even though they are aware of what the GT500s are commanding.

Sometimes the computer defaults Online Price to Invoice in the system. Call them and try to buy it for that

They don't own that car anymore and it was sold for $15k over, they will be glad to order you and '08 though for $20k over. I kindly declined and said I'll buy one at sticker.

We broke a new record with one that lasted 3 days on the lot unsold

We actually traded another one to a dealer for $5k over, and made them take 5 leftover 07 escapes.

It's no longer in Brooksville since they could not sell it. I went to see it a few weeks ago. It is now in St. Petersburg, same ownership. It's on eBay for $54,XXX Buy It Now price. Black, Shaker 1000, Sirius Radio, no PTIP.

I called the dealer today, didn't get too far. They are contradicting their own position on the sale of the GT500. One speaks to two diffent people and one gets two different stories. Here is a portion of email exchanges:

George,

"I don't know of any dealership that sells the Shelby GT 500 at MSRP. We
have a black one in our showroom selling for $64,339.95. We also have a convertable for $63,590..."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Ken,

"The additional mark up for GT500s which are selling, is presently in the $5,000 range and your eBay ad for the black GT500 states the "Buy It Now" price is $54,273 or "Best Offer". I assume you are aware of the present trends in the market as many who are looking for a GT500 to buy.

I believe you have a better chance to sell the car if you would consider the actual market and post your bottom line price rather to assume interested parties are not informed and knowledgeable on the GT500s.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my request and..."

George.

Creeps!!!

That's kinda what I told the lady I talked to. I said look I know they are being bought and ordered at sticker, if you guys want to sell me one or order me one at sticker I'd love to give you my business. I did tell her I know you guys are in Florida and there are a lot of people out there with more money than sense, but I'm not one of those people. I know you probably can't sell me one at sticker and probably think I'm insane for even asking, to which she kinda laughed, but if you'd like my business that's how you'll get it. To which she replied there are no MSRP deals to be had, and I surely haven't heard of any. To which I said, I suggest you start doing your research or that's one less car you're going to sell.

Dealers, we understand what you're doing, we're not dumb, the fact that a new Shelby is out has sunk in. Now just give us a chance to own the car we want.

~ Buy It Now
or Best Offer

I've noticed that's the latest gimmick of some dealers. With this approach the amount of the individual bids are no longer posted, hence, eliminating the competitive spirit of bidding and the visibility of failed sales attemps.

Seems like they are beginning to gasp for air guys.

The only thing I can say about that online price is that bait and switch is illegal. I'm not sure this constitutes bait and switch, but if a dealer lists a car for a price, they must honor the price on that specific vehicle only, right? So, if you wanted that car with the specific VIN number, they must honor it, right? Maybe I'm naive.

I know one thing...I'd buy a cobra for MSRP and I know most of the members of this forum would as well.

They'll just tell you that particular car was sold. Then they'll show you the other one they happen to have in stock for $20k more.
