Anybody else waiting for an 08 GT500?

I got on the 07 list (number 2 so they say). I told them if I don't get one in 07 they should keep trying in 08. Until it's in my driveway, I'm not holding my breath on even getting one. I will never pay more than MSRP.

Just read that Ford has built 2800 Ford GTs since 2004. 1800 have sold. So, there are 1000 GTs still on dealers' showrooms. Some are priced high so the owner of the dealership can keep it. Others are just priced high on the hope that some sucker will walk in and pay $50-$75K over sticker. But now, you can buy a GT (not a Mustang, that other one) for close to MSRP. Same will happen in year two with the Shelby. 2004 Cobras sold way below MSRP at some SVT dealerships.

Agreed , but it is a shame that to have to do that means you won't be able to order exactly what you want.

[/b][/quote]Don't you think one of the compelling reasons that there were so many 04 Cobras sitting on the lot is because of the anticipation of the "new" more powerful cobra being developed in the carcass of the newly announced retro body? When the dealers and Ford finally saw they overestimated the demand for the 04 Cobras, it was too late....they had to drastically drop the price just to get them off their lots. I don't see this happening to the Shelby...with the demise of the SVT group staring us in the face. <--and that might just drive the Shelby into a neo-rarity class.

I don't think SVT cars are going away. Just the Division that has been set aside to develop those cars. Ford will still be able to produce hi-po car and label them SVT like Dodge's SRT and Nissan's Nismo and BMW's M, etc.

I would say it is more hoping than actually knowing. It's good to be positive and optimistic, and that is the way I've been for the last few years. I feel pessimistic and notice enthusiasm diminishing by the day. I hope I am wrong but it seems to me this might be the last round for muscle cars.

I am in this camp Technology shifts to the Automotive industry are around the corner. I belive this will also be one of the last trends in Muscle car tradition. After this its all about being green! or spending a small fortune to get a custom built. Who knows...I will also be on the "first but in the Seat" camp. I've been waiting for this all my life...I wanted this car before they released a prototype. I was always a big fan of the 5.0 Litre Mustang GT back in the 80's, even bigger fan of the 68's...then Elanor showed up in Gone in Sixty Seconds....the list goes on...Location may help me as in Canada you cannot charge over MSRP...deffinitely ways around this but lets see what happens!

Yea .but if you can order it now for msrp ,then you can still do the mods with the 10 grand you wouldn't give to the dealer.
