2008 Production Numbers?

Several months ago a salesman on one of the boards posted that the projected total would be around 8000. He said that was from a letter from Ford. I wouldn't put too much stock in that. They projected 7000 for 2007 and made over 10,000. They over produced the 2003 Terminators the 03/04 Mach 1s and anything else that sells well. IF GT500s are still selling, they will make as many as they can.

Ford did, indeed, tells us dealers via written communication that 08 GT500 production was being pared down to approximately 8K units from the 10K+ they built in 2007. Some of that reduction was to free up 1,000 units to make KR's, while the rest was to realign with the slowly-declining sales of GT500's.
The dealership I work at was allocated 6 GT500's for 2007, but only 4 for 2008. All dealers were faced with a slight reduction in allocation for 2008.

I read every Ford communication to dealers every day, and I haven't seen any announcement as to whether there will (or won't be) a 2009 GT500. I suspect we'll see an '09, but I have no documentation to support it yet. Maybe one of the other dealers/insiders have some concrete evidence that there will be an '09 GT500???

I was told by a ford f150 engineer and a rep that came down when the gt500 was on tour that there would be an 09. I was told the other day by my dealer (sponsor of my mustang club) that he was told by his zone rep that there would be a 2009.

She said the contract runs beyond 2008 (or something similar). Not that it would include a 2009 or beyond GT500. It could mean SGTs, GT350s or whatever.
Now, my opinion is there will be a 2009 GT500. It makes no sense to stop making a big money maker for Ford.

At the end of the 2 years, the very expensive Ford GT sales were almost dead. They were not selling well, they were below MSRP. Several of the dealers still have thiers as showroom ornaments. When they made the end of production announcement, they price went back up.
That is a different story than the affordable GT500. If they make an 09, they will sell...as long as they don't saturate the market and then announce a major change like they did with the '03 and '04 Cobras.
