This is the absolute worst news for Ford's performance group after what they've been through over the past several years. I really hope this turns out to be false or is a minor glitch that won't cause a delay.

I guess it's better they found the problem now rather than 6 months after production.

That was my exact thought. Only thing that could be worse than delaying the release because of this issue is if they would've had to recall them after release.

Just why is the damper so heavy anyway? Aren't the internals the same as the GT's from which this engine is derived? If not, make it so. If so, maybe it needs a dry sump oiling system after all... a turbo setup wouldn't exert that kind of stress on the crankshaft... If the report is true and this gets out, it may tarnish this car's reputation whether it is resolved or not. Definitely not good news for Ford.

Can I still get the AMV rape charge despite that crankshaft failure...oh please, please, Mr. Dealer?

I am number two on the dealer's list. The dealer's owner is number one. I never got upset with the seating arrangement, although my facial expression was filled with disappointment and was quite noticeable... from the sales manager's perpective. The first Bullitts had transmission problems. The first Mach 1s and '03 Cobras had cylinder head problems. The first '05 GTs also had several issues. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be the first kid in the block with a new toy.

Of course, but he will have to add on some additional interest first. After all this isn't his fault.

I wonder who'll pull the Pontius Pilate routine this time?

Well, given how much my backside is starting to hurt just from all this TALK about rape charges, I'd like a turn at the Pontius Pilate role this time.

I heard that this development problem and others not yet leaked dissauded Ford from the entire GT500 notion, and it has been abandoned in favor of the (4.0 based) Shelby V600 with stripes, extra scoops, four large and two medium "SHELBY" badges and "race inspired" suspension. Apparently even after AMV it should come in at less than $40k, so its actually really good news to me.

Haha, sorry. I forgot that sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet. Not to worry, I made all of that up.

Here's the problem with Blue Oval News: back before the release of the '05 Mustang, they reported that the GT would be delayed due to head problems with the V8 engines. The story was only partially correct. There were some problems with the V8 engine heads but they had occurred long before production began and no engines had actually made into the production vehicles.

I've learned to take anything posted on BON with a grain of salt until confirmed by another news source. They tend to be sensationalists and somewhat lacking in journalistic integrity.

Before anyone says the story isn't from Blue Oval News, please note the author is Robert Lane, the owner of the BON website.

I'll have to ride with Mark on this one. The last time I tuned into a BON story was the Mach 1 article they had in December. Said they would have more info in a week. It's been over a week lol.....

Thats why they say to wait until the second model year of a new platform when they fix many glitches

The question I have:

Does anyone honestly have a DORA and a VIN for their GT-500?

Customers who have ordered regular 2007 Mustang GTs & V6s are now getting DORAs and VINs. So why not for GT-500 orders?

Its sad that Ford doesn't just put FORD GT internals in this car and maybe an aluminum dampner pulley?
