Does anyone know if this mustang is going to be produced in convertible? And what about colors? Anyone know? I called around to dealerships that they can't tell me anything.

The GT500's stripes come in a range of four colors (Performance White, Vista Blue, Tungsten and Satin Silver) that, with one exception, can be matched with at least three of the seven available exterior colors. The exception is Vista Blue, which can be paired only with a Performance White exterior.

Exterior colors include Colorado Red (which can be paired with Performance White or Satin Silver stripes), Alloy (Satin Silver or Tungsten), Vista Blue (Performance White or Tungsten), Performance White (available with Vista Blue or Tungsten stripes), Tungsten Grey (Satin Silver), Valencia (Tungsten) and Ebony (Performance White or Tungsten stripes).

I had heard that they were making very few of these SVT's and the sticker would run around $48,000. I had one dealer try and tell me he had one of these on the showroom floor. Thanks

They'll make about 30,000 over three years. The coupes will start under $40,000 plus options and dealer markup for the first 18 months or so.

I hadn't heard that they have committed to three years as you state.
I hope so. I thought they said, 2 years, maybe 3. This is good news if true.

Technically I guess it's 2.5 years--early 2006 for a 2007 model through 2008.

If its true that they will make about 30K of them, it is interesting that those two model years will be double the number of all of the Shelbys produced from 65 through 70.

Personally, I would much rather have a new one than any of the old ones. I have a real fascination with the early 66 models, however. Even so, you can't beat AC, antilock brakes, 475 hp, much better overall performance than any of the older models, a lot of style, and the ability to readily buy parts. I'm saving my pennys for when the hype dies down. They will at least be available then.

I'd love to have GT500 but the cost of ownership would kill me. I think I'm going to wait till after the 09 redesign to pickup a Cobra model then. I should have the cash flow and my driving record cleared up by then. For now it's modding my GT as much as possible.
