I`m sorry, this kind of markup is just pure greed, this dealership is obviously not worth dealing with, if they play this kind of markup game then they do it on all their cars, my dealer has already told me that the markup will be no higher than $7500.00

and $7500 is not just pure greed????
ANYTHING over sticker is pure greed. They will get more than 2 or 3 cars each and they will sell for sticker or less eventually. Do not get suckered in by this. Only the first few cars will sell for over sticker. You guys are nuts if you think over sticker is OK and you will kick yourselves in 6 months when everyone else is getting theirs for normal prices.
This car will not be rare and the demand will not be as high as you think. There are not that many people out there wanting to own a 475hp car, ragardless of who's name is on the car or how much of a bargain it is. This happens every time a new car comes out and the prices fall every time. Look back at the M3, Z06, '03 Cobra, Ford GT, Mach 1, etc., etc., etc.
With the power of today's internet, no one should fall prey to this kind of scam.
/rant off.

I was in a local small town dealership last Friday and asked if they were getting any Shelbys in. Apparently participating dealerships have to be certified before they can sell them, the mechanics require special training, etc. Anyway, he said they are supposed to get an allocation of 3 or 4. They are anticipating a 20k markup. I said "Well, I suppose you have to get the money where you can since I'm sure you're not making much on some of the other models.". His reply was "Yeah, we're not making much on ANY of the other models!" Really 60k doesn't seem unreasonable for a Shelby considering what blown Saleens and Roushes go for. It's just the thought that 20k of that 60 is pure dealer markup that drives everyone bananas.

To be honest, if you're willing to pay a $20K markup, I'd be hard pressed not to look at a Z06. I can promise you this, that any "over the MSRP" amount you pay, will be shortly forgotten if you decided to trade it back to the same dealer...that's a sunk cost to own one.

Our faces are turning blue trying to help those who will not absorb sound advice, so why waste the time? Instead it is best to encourage those who dream of getting screwed to have their wishes granted. We might as well accept it and get it over and done with.
They'll get the point if they have to sell the car and still be in debt for it.

You're right. I don't know why I try to help these people. I guess it is to try to stop the practice of dealers charging AMV. I figure if no one pays AMV, it will go away. My little rants will likely not make too much of a difference.
So, proudly spend your foolish money. Just pray that you do not want/need to sell the car for a few years. You will be upside down on the loan for a long time.

Don`t know where else to stick this but today I found out from the dealer I`m trying to order a Shelby from informed me that CA is only getting seven cars for the entire first year run, this came from Ford, so those of us that have been trying for almost a year to get this car will not be able to compete against people who can offer 10 to 15,000 more for the car.
I fell Ford is going for the max $ they can get for this car, knowing there are people out there that can pay these huge markups, unlike myself who cannot afford these markups.

That's all a bunch of bull, the dealer u called is just triyng to make you pay alot of money for the car. Why would CA only get 7 shelby's when they have the Number one Ford dealer in the world which is Galpin Ford, they have sold more than any other dealer and have the largest inventory of new fords in the world. I gaurantee you they will at least get 10 Shelby's, if they got alot of ford gt's and sold the second production Ford GT to Jay leno, why would they get a few Shelbys when their production numbers are higher. They have a seperate lot (not that far away from Galpin Ford) were they keep most of their vehicles, in it all you see is huge lines of vehicles left to right, each section separated by brand. Galpin Ford is not that far away from were I live(15 minute drive), Iv'e been there many times and have always seen may Mustangs. When my brother bought his 03 cobra they had a bunch of other cobra's. They sell every Mustang (SVT, Saleen, Roush, & Galpinized).
Have faith and wait a little bit, you will find one for a reasonable price . CA will get more than 7, don't fall for what the dealers tell you & don't pay the big mark ups they will give you.

Must have Shelby NOW!!!!!! So order yours TODAY! And don't worry about all those naysayers who talk about silly things like depreciation...and high insurance...and gas. They're just being weenies. And that slobbering, bug-eyed, middle-aged salesman who mumbles something about how he "saw you coming" as he gives you a slimy, limp-wristed handshake? Well, he has your best interests at heart. Just remember, a REAL enthusiast is willing to pay AT LEAST $50,000 over sticker for one of these beauties. That's right, folks, this car is worth EVERY PENNY. Don't be coerced by the silly non-believers who are actually foolish enough to think they're going to be able to get one of these cars without turning over their first born. So repeat after me: 'I MUST be the first one on my block to have one of these cars, AT ANY COST!'

Don't get discouraged crazyhorse, you help a lot of people on these forums. Dealer greed will cost them more from lost sales than they get in markups. I stopped buying from any dealers that have done this. Hopefully other people will do the same.

see the thing about it is for someone making 100K+ a year they can afford to do this, someone that makes 50K a year and it becomes that much harder. I know if i made 200K last year i wouldnt mind have paying 10K extra for a car like this NOW, but since I dont so obviously i'd wanna get one for MSRP. Its simple economics/capitalism at work guys.
