Your favorite feature of your car (non-performance)?

What's your favorite non-performance feature on your car?

For me it's the lighting of the car, inside and out, hands down.

Just tonight after four months of ownership I finally got around to creating custom MyColors, and I came up with a pretty crazy hot pink, and a yellow (kind of wonder why yellow isn't in the default MyColor colors). Doubt I'll use either, but cool to have a couple more colors.

The MyColor is absolutely awesome, I can't imagine the gauge lighting of any other car being anything but a downgrade since I don't think any other cars out there ofter anything even remotely as neat. Current settings are blue gauges (not ice blue), purple halo, and red ambient lighting…it's tough to bring myself to run any other color combo. Honestly MyColor alone is enough to justify the cost of the premium, at least to me.

The outside lights are awesome too. The fog lights throw a surprising amount of light out onto the road and really complement the xenons (and actually the xenons seem yellow/dull when you turn off the fogs, but I know they aren't - the fogs are just that blue and throw that much light out there). Full LED tails are great too, and the sequential part draws so much attention when driving around. Only improvements here would be LED turn signals in the front along with LED side markers in the side mirrors. LED plate lights would be nice too, but I know the aftermarket has answered that.

So what's your favorite non-performance aspect of your car?

Maybe it's better on yours but I think "MyColor" is pretty lame on my 2011.

It irks me to no end that I can't set any of the colors to 0...

What is it you don't like about it?

I did find that beyond making hot pink and a slightly dirty yellow, there was nothing else I could make that was really unique, just pale versions of all the other default colors so my third MyColor isn't set to anything.

Being a former exterior lighting supplier to Ford and others I feel well designed exterior lighting is a performance feature.

The HID headlamps in the Mustang are first rate.

Oh and while I am at it.
Please for the love of all lighting engineers of the world.
Do not use tints, aftermarket bulbs, headlight splitters, etc.

Do you know the temp of the xenons? 4300K, 6000K? Can't find this anywhere.

I do not but I would not mess with them for any reason even if I still had access to a photometric lab.

The tail lights and sequential turning signals. No other car on the road has as cool tail lights as the 2013/2014 Mustang.

Alright, go ahead and laugh, but my favorite is the Sync system. I have enough music loaded onto a thumb drive to take me back and forth across country three time without ever listening to the same track twice. I can select what I want to hear by voice command and it works - most of the time. I have my smart phone connected via bluetooth and can take and make calls hands-free and it works - most of the time. When I have had problems with Sync I have been able to resolve them fairly easily.

Yes, pony projectors are cool. And yes, MyColor is cool. But they are not functional. Sync is.

The LED taillights, I still stop and stare every time I unlock the car.

Not really a "feature"...more like the lack thereof...but I like my instrument cluster. I have the base V6, so just the four gauges and the small info display that can be turned off. Looks nice and clean and is real nice at night.

Could you expand on your suggestion not to use aftermarket bulbs? I have not done anything to mine,..yet. Any insight would be appreciated.

While there are times when I'd just rather listen to the auxilary stereo system (my GT500 axlebacks), it just doesn't get much better than cranking up Los Lobos or the Blasters at 80mph in a convertible.

I really love my "plain Jane", basic 500w Shaker stereo....if you can call 500w plain Jane and basic. It's more powerful than my home system, with plenty of volume and clarity at max, even with the top down.

Life is good in a Mustang.

The steering wheel. It has a great feel to it, perfect texture, diameter, firmness, and placement of the spokes.
