Yeah, I can go 81 again!!!
Last time I went on my latest Walmart run it hit me why I don't drive that much. Got behind 2 losers going 50 in each lane. In a 70 MPH zone. I just kinda have a touch of road rage now. I said to myself it's nothing for my Mustang. I saw an opening so I punched it! Forgot all about that MyKey crap. When she just coughed @ 80, kinda said some not nice words. That was it, scheduled me an appt to get master key right then & there! Drive a super fast car that will only go 80. He quoted $170 that day. Knew I needed to get, just wasn't planing to yet. Oh well, It was $149.93. I just made sure it took. Got up to 120 coming home. Love my car again!!

Nope. Because the the owner only turned in the 1 key, that's what they gave me. Said it wasn't there fault to only 1. Bunch of BS, I thought. So I will never buy a new car from them again. I will most likely never buy a new one again, though!! Yep, I was reading through my owner's manual or I saw it on TV to that MyKey. Thought it would be a for sure deal if I ever valeted it. I never would to that!! The key I got was the #2 key. B/c I have no extra $ after paying for my car, knew it'd be a while before I could get it. I glad I set it to 80 & not 55 or something. I had to get the master key, I think they called it to turn off. I took it in to a Ford shop thinking they could just undo it. It's made so a valet kid can't just take it & have turned off so they can rag on it. It's off now.
Not my dad's, too.
Sorry I had all typed out & hit a wrong button. Lost like part of it. Tired of trying to fix this. Hope it makes sense!!

Eli you have to explain the background to them. I know the story so I can say I'm happy you got the car "unleashed" now ![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Edit: You explained it now

I am a little confused. You said the owner only turned in one key to them, but it is a new car? Did I misread something? If this was a new vehicle, the dealer is required to provide you both keys. If they have a problem, call Ford. Give them a zero on the Ford new car survey you receive..I bet you get the key paid for. I get really "upset" at dealers taking advantage of young buyers.
And, a word of advice. In Texas anything over 80 is a mandatory court appearance. Lived the DFW area while assigned down there until 2007 and San Antonio back in the '70's. Be careful

SD CALSPCL, I bought my car as a pre-owned car. Better way to say 'used'. The 1st owner bought cause it was the 1st 5.0 on that lot. Drove for 29 days & realized he wanted a manual trans. B/C he titled it, they could not sale it again as new.
I think that 80 & 70 was over speeding. I never, ever speed!! I was just @ a spot where I could see miles of cars coming in my direction. There was only trucks & white SUV's coming. I just knew those weren't coppers. I am lucky as hell I can even drive any. If I get pulled over by a cop that woke up on the wrong side of bed, they can easily take my license for life. Yep, this was a 1 time thing just to make sure it fixed it. Thanks though!!

Good thing you didn't gun it to 88 mph, although I'm not sure the key would unleash the required 1.21 giggawatts.

So, the bigger question here is, why did you pay for a 2nd key, and why didn't you notice this when you bought the car?
I'd be having a few words with the dealer and getting that covered by them.
