Unfortunately, this only works if you added the mods (value) to your policy. I hope the OP did. Very nice Mustang. Sorry this idiot had to take out your car. Glad to hear your alright though.

I've had insurance with Allstate for 20 years now. About 5 years ago my son was involved in an accident. Totalled his truck; he was not faulted. Our insurance company totalled his truck, but would not allow him anything in the way of his sound system, rims/tires, and recaro seats he added, as they said he was required to call and "add them to the policy". Since Florida is a "no fault" state, you might not be able to collect everything in the way of money from the "other guys" insurance company. I contacted legal council, but to no avail because of this state law. I guess this is "real world knowledge".....we were lucky enough thought to be allowed to remove the equipment he had stock parts for to replace with.

My comments are to warn others that not all insurance companies operate the same. Especially those that follow the "mayhem" commercials on TV. If you buy cheap insurance, it may not cover you.

Just trying to help others.

That is good news. Now there's no worry about your Mustang lossing any depreciated value because it was in an accident (carfax would show this).

Great it all turned out great for you!

He's not necessarily wrong. My insurance company requires that I disclose the dollar amount of the aftermarket parts that I want covered, and if an accident were to happen I would have to show receipts for said aftermarket parts. I would assume that each insurance company is different.

Don't know how long before they had side air bags, but both of my '08s did.

Think it was an option in '07. Mine does not have them.

Side air bags in the seats have been an option since 2005.

hahaha, not biased at all, right?

I heard back today, getting cut $30,448.00, as soon as I sign the title over to the salvage yard. Probably going to pay off the private loan I have now (25k) and put 10% down towards a new one and finance through ford. Looking more seriously at new 2012's with the Brembo option, as well as track pack 2013's, does anyone know the primary differences between the basic 2011-12 Brembo option and the 2013-14 track pack? I know the hud is a big thing, anything else that's significant?

you do not have to take what they offer first. Tell them you need better. That seems low. ask for 34k and see if they give it to you.
